AARON C. CAMPBELL ... Charged with first-degree murder
Police have arrested and charged a 17-year-old with first-degree murder in con- nection with a fatal shooting. The incident took place last Tuesday night in the River Oaks Apartment Complex.
Police arrested 17-year-old Aaron C. Campbell in Riverview last Friday. He was charged with pre-meditated first-degree murder and being a minor in possession of a firearm. He was trans- ported to the Orient Road Jail.
According to the Tampa Police Department, officers responded to the 6700 block of Woodville Street shortly after 11 p.m., Tuesday. When they arrived, the officers dis- covered that a 19-year-old man had been shot several times. The unidentified vic- tim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
During the investigation, police learned that there had been an unreported shooting in the complex earlier. They said Campbell reportedly believed that the 19-year-old victim had been involved in that shooting.
Police said the victim had attempted to avoid Camp- bell. However, Campbell found him and allegedly shot him several times.
Detectives quickly devel- oped information during the murder investigation that led them to Campbell. The in- vestigation is continuing.

Last Thursday, a Hillsbor- ough County Grand Jury re- turned an indictment charging five men in connec- tion with the shooting death of a 4-year-old child. Suni Bell was riding in the back- seat of a vehicle on August 22 when a car passed and fired multiple shots into the vehi- cle. Suni was the only one hit by gunfire.
After the Grand Jury is- sued the indictments, the U. S. Marshal’s Task Force ar- rested all five men and charged them.
Those arrested were: An- drew Thompson and Jaylin Bedward, both 22; James Denson, 24; Quan- darious Hammond, 28; and 39-year-old Zvante Sampson.
All five were charged with first-degree murder for killing Bell, attempted first- degree murder on a different victim in the same case, con- spiracy to commit murder, and shooting into a vehicle.
In addition to the first-de- gree murder charge, the in- dictment accuses Hammond and Sampson of attempted murder on a third victim in the case; as well as Hammond, Thompson, and Denson of
discharging a firearm from a vehicle in public.
In a joint press release from the Tampa Police De- partment and the Hillsbor- ough County State Attorney’s Office, the agencies stated, “Diligent work by Tampa Po- lice patrol officers and homi- cide detectives created several breaks in the case, leading to Hillsborough State Attorney’s Office prosecutors presenting an indictment to the grand jury.
“The indictment repre- sents a significant step for- ward in the effort to hold Suni’s killers accountable and deliver justice for her and her family. Tampa Police and the Hillsborough State Attor- ney’s Office will continue their work to identify and prosecute everyone involved. This remains an ongoing, ac- tive criminal investigation; neither agency is able to pro- vide further details at this time.”
Detectives believe others may have been involved in this case and continue to ask the public for help. Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873- TIPS or online at www.crimestopperstb.com.
