MR. THOMAS LAVAUGHN BOWDEN
A Homegoing Memorial Cele- bration for Mr. Thomas Lavaughn Bowden of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022, 6:00 p.m. at Aikens Fu- neral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Rev. Leonard Harrington, officiating.
Thomas was born November 2, 1968, in Tampa, Florida to the late Tom and Lizzie Bowden. He attended the local schools of Hillsborough County and gradu- ated from Leto High School.
He was preceded in death by: his parents and brother, Timothy Bowden.
He leaves to cherish his mem- ory: sister/mother, Cynthia Bow- den Jolly; sister/niece, Selena Lemons; daughters, Thomasina Bowden, Acacia Bowden, To- minique Pickens; fiancé, Gloria Forman, and her children; grandchildren, Darius Halibur- ton, Jr., Jacaylen Thomas, Amira Thomas, Antwan Blackman, Dariyonna Robinson; niece, Za- Kariah Lemons; nephews, Zachary and Zarius Lemons; cousins, Joann Saltmarsh (Ger- rard), Regina Williams, and chil- dren, Bobby Bowden, Freddie Bowden; special aunt, Retha Hobbs; godmothers, Margaret Butler, and Connie Hill; bonus children, Briana Evans, and Brian Evans; best friend/brother, Lincoln Brown; special love ones, Geraldine Har- ris Stubbs, Monique Brown; spe- cial sisters, Tanya, and Dion Patrick; special brothers, Riley Mitchell, Lee Rainey, Marty Stewart, and Jerome Speights (Tiger); special friends of the 39th Street compound, and spe- cial friends, Harram Court #96; and a host of cousins, other rela- tives, and friends who love and will miss him. MRS. BETTY JEAN CHESTER
DEACON OZEL CHISHOLM
A Homegoing Celebration for Deacon Ozel Chisholm of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on Fri- day, January 28, 2022, will be held on Friday, February 11th, 11:00 a.m. at Faith Temple Mis- sionary Baptist Church, 2916 Ori- ent Road, Rev. Danny Osborne, officiating. The interment will follow in Garden of Memories.
Deacon Ozel Chisholm was born in Blitchton, Florida on April 7, 1930, to the late Albert, Sr., and Vernell Wimberly Chisholm. Deacon Chisholm loved the Lord with all his heart and accepted Christ as his per- sonal savior at a very early age. He was baptized at Mars Hill Baptist Church in Ocala, FL. His servanthood and spiritual devel- opment were extended through- out his life as a Junior Deacon, Deacon, Sunday School and Bap- tist Training Union Teacher, Youth Director, Male Chorus or- ganizer and participant, Founder and President of the Clearwater City Wide Choirs Union and Men’s Ministry Leader for the Bay Central District Association under Reverend Eric Campbell, Moderator.
He was ordained as a Deacon at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Clearwater and served as Deacon Ministry Chair at both New First Union Missionary Bap- tist Church and God’s Side Fam- ily Worship Center in Tampa. Deacon Chisholm also had the distinction of serving as the first Black Juror in Clearwater, FL.
With a heart of love, joy, faithfulness, gentleness, peace, the gift of giving, service and ex- hortation, Deacon Chisholm lived his life walking in the Spirit. He supported the down-trodden and was no respecter of people. He prayed mightily for everyone, all the time.
Left to cherish beautiful and fond memories are: his loving and devoted wife, Arlena; sons, Ozel Chisholm, Jr. (Annette), Livingston Curtis Chisholm, Xxavier Chisholm (Rewa), Zdany Chisholm (Markeisha) and Le’Troy Carter (Gissell); daugh- ters, Vernon Benedict (Gregory), Antoinette Scrivens (Charles), Tamika Barber (Robert) and Ka- trina Osborne (Danny); brothers Van Chisholm (Peggy) and Wal- ter Chisholm (Joyce) and a host of grandchildren, great grand- children, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, on Thursday, February 10th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. We are fol- lowing the CDC guidelines.

MR. ARCHIE ‘PETE’ LEE DAWKINS
A Homegoing Memorial Serv- ice for Mr. Archie “Pete” Lee Dawkins of Tampa, Florida, who passed away on February 01, 2022, will be held on Saturday, February 12th, 12:00 p.m. at Riverhills Church of God, 6310 E Sligh Ave, Tampa, FL 33617, Rev. Sylvester Robinson, officiating.
Archie relocated to Tampa, FL at the age of four. He was edu- cated in the public schools of Hillsborough County and gradu- ated from Robinson High School in 1979. Upon graduating, he served in the United States Air Force for 5 years, receiving an honorable discharge. Archie ac- cepted Christ at an early age and grew up attending Peace Pro- gressive M. B. Church. He was a loving person that thoroughly en- joyed spending time with his family and rooting for his beloved Buccaneers. He was an avid reader and could be deemed a walking encyclopedia as he ex- hibited a plethora of informa- tion. Archie was one of a kind and will truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Eli Dawkins, Sr.; mother, Adell Dawkins; son, Der- rick Frazier; brothers, Elijah, Willie, Billy, and Johnny Dawkins; sister, Martha Dawkins White.

A Homegoing Service for Mr. Ernest Lee Gilyard, of Tampa, Florida who passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, will be held on Saturday, February 12th, 1:30 p.m. at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Deacon Rennix Franklin, officiating. The inter- ment will be in Rose Hill Ceme- tery.
Ernest was born December 23, 1943, in Tampa, Florida.
Ernest Lee Gilyard “Roun- tree” was preceded in death by: his wife, Linda Gail Coachman- Gilyard; sons, Reggie Gilyard and Burttrain Broadnax; parents, Butte Rountree and Rutha Mae Gilyard-Gates; brothers, Willie James, Jr., Weldon Rountree and Jackie Gilyard-Rountree.
Ernest leaves to cherish his fond memories: with devoted sons, Eric Gilyard-Muhammed, Mingie Rosebury, and Jonye Rosebury; daughters, Yolanda, Tynique Gilyard, and Tina Wil- son of Clearwater; grandchil- dren, A.J. Nebraska Avenue Tampa 33602, Elder Benjamin Curry, of- ficiating. The interment will fol- low in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Betty was born on November 18, 1932, in Tampa, Florida, to Rosa Bell James and Thomas Barr. She was a member of Greater New Salem Primitive Baptist Church, where she served until her illness. Betty’s accolades include her membership to the Eastern Star Organization. She worked at the VA Hospital until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by: her mother, Rosa Bell James; fa- ther, Thomas Barr; brother, James Barr; daughter, Joann Barr; and sons, Larry Barr and Jackie Barr.
She leaves precious memo- ries: with her husband, Willie Chester, Jr.; children, Ronnie Barr, Shirley Queen, Author Barr, Pamela Green, James Smith, and Richard Williams; 20 grandchil- dren; 50+ great grandchildren; brother, Samuel Barr; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
