Inaugural Season With Family Fun Day
BY MONIQUE STAMPS Sentinel Staff Writer
The East Tampa Cardi- nals Youth Football and Cheer is a new sports organi- zation looking to instill im- portant values to the children they serve. On Saturday, July 17, 2021, the organization sponsored a Family Fun Day at Mary Help of Christians Center.
The Cardinals are mem- bers of the Florida Elite Youth Football and Cheer, which means they will travel to all parts of Florida during the season. Children will have the opportunity to see new places and meet new people.
The team is focused on not just the fundamentals of football and cheer, but also focused on the Word and love of God in a supportive environment. Children will also be offered tutoring, skills training, and other life build- ing skills. They can also par- ticipate in educational trips,
community service, and community pride for East Tampa.
Founders of the non- profit include Frezell Wil- son, Sherman Bryant, Marshall Crosby, Levita Jenerette, and Eboni Washington. Although this is the organization’s first year, the founders have over 50 years of experience in coaching and working with young people.
Coach Wilson states, “We have a village mentality where we build on old school values of East Tampa.”
The costs of the program include non-refundable fees of $50 for football and $25 for cheer. Additional pack- ages are available.
