Grammy Winning Jazz Singer, Al Jarreau Dies
AL JARREAU
Legendary jazz vocalist, Al Jarreau, died in Los Angeles Sunday (Feb. 12) morning. He was 76.
A message on Jarreau’s Facebook page confirmed his death. “It is with the deepest of sadness to inform you Al Jar- reau passed away this morn- ing, at about 6:00 a.m. LA time,” the post reads. “He was in the hospital, kept comfort- able by his wife, son, and a few of his family and friends.

Migos Member Offset Kicked Off Flight
Offset goes ballistic on social media after being put off the flight.
Offset is not a fan of Ameri- can Airlines. The Migos rapper claims he was kicked off an American Airlines flight on Sat- urday (Feb. 11) for talking on the phone.
The “Bad and Boujee” rapper took to Instagram to explain the situation, which mostly con- sisted of slandering American Airlines and whoever booted him off the plane, while noting that he’s rich for real.
American Airlines states that Offset was being loud and dis- ruptive.
His relatives and group mates, Quavo and Takeoff stayed on the flight.
Takes Home 2 Awards,
So Does Chance The Rapper
Along with her mesmerizing performance, Beyonce won the Grammy awards for Best Urban Contemporary Album for Lemonade, as well as Best Music Video for “Formation” at the 2017 Grammy Awards (Feb. 12).
The award for Best Music Video was announced during the pre-telecast, but during her acceptance speech for her Best Urban Contemporary Album win, she already has a speech prepared (in a golden envelope that matched her glowing, golden ambiance, nonetheless), in which she ex- panded on her inspiration to create Lemonade: to give “every child of every race” the chance to see their full poten- tial.
The Grammys can’t get enough of Chance The Rapper.
After picking up awards for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance, the risen star won the award for Best Rap Album with Coloring Book to the surprise of some (includ-

Prince’s Catalog Now
Being Streamed Across
All Digital Services
According to Warner Brothers Records, music from late icon Prince’s extensive catalog be- came available to stream across all digital services Sunday, hours before the Grammy Awards kicked off.
“Prince recorded his most in- fluential and popular music dur- ing his time with Warner Bros. and we are deeply aware of our responsibility to safeguard and nurture his incredible legacy,” Warner Bros. Chairman & CEO Cameron Strang says in a statement.
However, many who knew the late star, knew that one of his biggest wishes, and something he profoundly stood for while he was alive was not to have his music on streaming services or any place where it could be wa- tered down.
Now, because he didn’t have his affairs in order before his un- timely passing, record labels and publishing companies can make a boatload of money from his art.
Launching Prince’s catalog on the eve of the Grammy Awards was strategic because it’s one of the highest sales weeks in music.
Universal Music Group (UMG) is the company chosen by Prince’s estate to handle all of the exclusive rights to the late musician’s music catalog.
Billboard reports the estate and UMG struck a multi-year deal that gives them control of

licensing out much of Prince’s music, even unreleased works from the vault; this makes UMG the source and keeper of most of Prince’s music, publishing, and merchandise.
Prince Left Nearly $1 Million In Gold
*Prince reportedly owned 67 10-ounce gold bars valued at $836,166, according to court documents released last week by a probate court in Carver County, Minnesota.
According to reports, the “doc- uments showed the star had plenty of cash and real estate, but had zero investments in stocks DJIA, -0.16% or bonds at the time of his death.”
His estate is estimated to be worth up to $300 million, but he left no will — allegedly.
