Funeral/Death Announcement
Man Charged With Murder Of Infant
JEREMIAH DILLARD
... Charged with first-degree murder
Police have arrested and charged a man with first-de- gree murder. The 1-month-old victim died September 24, 2016.
According to the St. Pe- tersburg Police Department, on September 24th, at 2:20 a.m., an unresponsive infant was brought to a local hospi- tal. Doctors attempted to re- cessitate the infant, but to no avail. The baby was pro- nounced deceased at 3:24 a.m.
Police did not release the sex or the name of the infant.
The Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the in- fant died of asphyxia with contributing factors of blunt trauma and malnutrition.
Following the death of the infant, detectives were able to establish that Jeremiah Dil- lard, 33, was alone with the infant at the time it was in- jured.
Dillard was arrested last Saturday, nearly 5 months after the death of the child.

MS. JANICE L. JONES
Ms. Janice L. Jones of Tampa, passed away Febru- ary 5, 2017. She grew up on the west side of Tampa, in Carver City for 50 years. Janice attended Pierce Jun- ior High School and gradu- ated from Thomas Jefferson Senior High School in 1984.
She worked at Tampa In- ternational Airport as a food server, before graduat- ing from Wilfred Beauty Academy in 1988. In 2014, Janice started to attend Hillsborough Community College before her health took a turn for the worse. She was a hard worker, who enjoyed doing hair and working in the banking in- dustry. She was also a de- voted wife for years.
Janice was preceded in death by: her mother, Janie L. Campbell; father, James Bryant; stepfather, James Mond; brothers, Aqueel Shadeed, Sr. and Reginal Pookie Bryant.
She is survived by: her goddaughter, Jessica Ar- rington; stepson, Javaun Jones; stepbrothers, James Bryant, Earl Bryant and Norman McDaniel; stepsis- ter, Evelyn (Morris) Moore; nephews, Aqueel Shadeed, Jr. and Naji Shadeed; nieces, Rhasheedah (Mario) Carter, Yasini Shadeed, Zayna Shadeed and Minka Shadeed; great-nephews, Mario Carter, II, and Isaiah Carter; great-niece, beauti- ful Savannah; cousins, Ber- nice, Oliver Jones and Kurtis; godmothers, Scher- ryl Carrinton and Phyllis Whipple; childhood brother, Champ Williams; special friends/sisters for life, Val Valdez, Faye Mar- tin, Davia Wesley, Dian Brown, Debiie Sloan and Faith Jones Ivoty. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Febru- ary 17, 2017 at 12:30 p. m. at Garden of Memories Fu- neral Home, 4207 E Lake Ave., Tampa. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Devontae was 2 years of age and a native of Tampa. His parents are Ashaunta Hinton and Robert Everett.
Police are continuing their investigation into a shooting that left two people injured. The shooting took place last Wednesday.
According to the Plant City Police Department, they received a 9-1-1 call in refer- ence to a shooting. When po- lice arrived, they determined that Marshon Shoemake, 25, of Plant City, and a 14- year-old girl had both been shot. Shoemake was treated for several gunshot wounds. The female victim was treated and released. Police have not released her identity.
During their investigation, police learned that the shoot- ing took place at 1309 E. Ten- nessee Avenue. The victims arrived at the residence around 6 p.m. An unidenti-
fied white vehicle, occupied by the suspects arrived simul- taneously. The suspects re- portedly forced the two victims in the house at gun- point and attempted to rob them.
Once inside, a struggle took place between the vic- tims and the suspects. When the victims attempted to es- cape, both of them were shot by the suspects. The suspects then fled the scene in the white vehicle. No additional information pertaining to the shooting was available and no suspects have been taken into custody.

Teenager Accidentally Shot In Back In Serious Condition
Detectives with the Pinel- las County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating an ac- cidental shooting that left a teenager in serious condi- tion.
According to police, Ms. Yaminah Gilbert, 19, of Largo, was at Dara’s Nail Salon and Day Spa, 9049 Starkey Road, about 6:30 p.m., when she was acciden- tally shot. She was sitting in the salon chair getting a pedi- cure when the bullet struck her in the back.
When police arrived at the scene, paramedics were already providing medical assistance to Ms. Gilbert. She was then transported to Bayfront Medical Center
with non-life threatening in- juries.
During their investiga- tion, police determined that 43-year-old Mark Smith, an employee at the R &R Firearms, 9051 Starkey Road, was unloading a cus- tomer’s .45 caliber handgun inside the gun shop.
Smith said that he was clearing the firearm when he pulled the slide back and emptied the chambered round from inside the firearm. When he sent the slide forward, there was a magazine with ammunition still inside the handgun and accidentally discharged.
The investigation into the shooting is continuing.
