Deputies Find Almost $300,000 Worth Of
Marijuana At Scene Of Home Invasion
The home where two South Florida men were shot Saturday night after driving from Miami to allegedly commit a robbery was a marijuana grow house, ac- cording to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies said Leanys Ro- driguez-Charon, 27, and Carlos Anthony Rodriguez, 28, were armed with Tasers when they kicked in the back door of the house just after 11 p.m. and were met by a His- panic man inside. After an argu- ment, the unidentified man shot Rodriguez-Charon and Ro- driguez. He then fled and has not been found.
The shooting victims were transported to a local hospital with injuries reported to be non- life threatening.
The investigation is continu- ing.

After making several com- mands for Riggins to exit the residence, Deputy Caleb Johnson visually located Riggins in a bedroom, at which time Johnson report- edly perceived Riggins as an immediate threat and fired one shot, striking Riggins.

Police Investigate Murder-Suicide
A 23-year-old Tampa man was admitted to a local hospi- tal in serious condition after being shot. He was reportedly shot exiting a West Tampa home that was being burglar- ized.
According to the Tampa Po- lice Department, the incident began shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday. Ms. Jordan King, 25, who lives in the 1700 block of North B Street, received an alert on her telephone. Ms. King was able to observe a man in her bedroom going through her items.
Ms. King called 9-1-1 and then she called her 54-year- old father, Jerry King, who was a few blocks away. When King arrived at the home minutes later, he walked into the fenced-in backyard and observed a man coming out of the home. King told police the man had an unknown object in his hand that caused him (King) to become fearful.
King reportedly fired one shot from his handgun, strik- ing the man in the upper body. The man, identified as Michael N. Stewart, of Tampa, was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.
Police said Stewart is fac- ing charges related to the bur- glary.

The Florida Department of Corrections shows that Ste- wart was released on April 1, 2016, after serving 6 years for burglary and grand theft.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office website shows that Stewart was arrested on August 11, 2016 and charged with burglary and grand theft. He was released on August 18, 2016 after posting a bond of $9,500.
Police said King is cooper- ating and no charges have been filed against him.

On Monday at 5:39 p.m., Largo Police received a call for a welfare check in the area of Adrian Avenue and Gladys Street. The call was from a fam- ily member regarding a female who was thought to be suicidal.
Once in the area officers were able to locate a possible apart- ment for the suicidal subject at 3053 Adrian Avenue #5.
As they approached the resi- dence a neighbor told the offi- cers they heard what they thought was fireworks coming from the area of the apartment.
Officers entered the apart- ment and found two females dead with gunshot wounds. The subsequent investigation re- vealed the incident was an ap- parent murder-suicide.
So far, detectives believe Jessica Strauss, 31, shot her longtime friend, Carol Ann Neely, 55, and then turned the gun on herself.
The residence was secure when officers entered and a weapon was recovered near Strauss.
