Black, Brown & College Bound Conference Held
On February 18th, Hillsborough Community College held their 9th Annual Black, Brown, & College Bound Conference. The Conference is a Hillsborough Community College initiative designed to encourage African American and Latino men to en- roll in and obtain a college education.
The conference brought together national experts, educa- tional leaders, practitioners and students to discuss the pro- grams and strategies that have proven effective in increasing the academic achievement of underrepresented men in higher edu- cation. Dr. Sylvia Marion Carley founded the Conference.
The theme this year was: “Turning the Page; Trans- forming the African American and Latino Male Expe- rience in Higher Education.”
Steve Harvey, Emmy Award winning TV personality, talk show host, actor and comedian served as this year’s Keynote Speaker at the Black, Brown, & College Bound luncheon held on February 20th.

Actor, radio personality, talk show and game show host Steve Harvey delivered the keynote ad- dress at the Black, Brown, & College Bound Luncheon that honored Dr. Sylvia Marion Carley.
