McFarland, USA - A cross country coach (Kevin Costner) transform a team of runners into championship contenders. Surprisingly, very good sports film. Made $22M. (Budget N/A). ****
Fifty Shades Of Grey –
Based on the 100 million books sold, this drama/ro- mance is about a student, Anastasia (Dakota John) who meets a sexually tormented billionaire, Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan), who goes through great lengths to break her down mentally and sexually. Note: Did he know he had her at “Hello.” This film was drama free. Some- one who read the books said that the drama will come in the next movie “50 Shades of Darkness.” Made $147M. Kingsman: The Secret Service – A British Spy or- ganizations (Colin Firth) re- cruits a street teen (Taron Egeton) into the agency train- ing program to fight against a crazy tech genius (Samuel Jackson) and his ruthless bodyguard (Sofia Boutella), who are trying to control the world. This bloody, action ad- venture spared no one from the violence. Must see! Made $85M. (Budget $81M). ****
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water - SpongeBob and the crew must travel to the surface in order to get the secret Krabby Patty formula from a pirate who stole it. Voiced by Tom Kenny and Antonio Bandera, this second SpongeBob movie falls way short from the first. Disappointed. Wait for it on DVD. Made $139M. (Budget $74M). **1⁄2
Jupiter Ascending - A genetically engineered war- rior (Channing Tatum) is sent to Earth to protect a young woman (Mila Kunis) who does not know she is a Queen on Jupiter. A powerful family
who lives on Jupiter is on a mission to kill her. This fu- turistic action film moves quick and the effects are worth-seeing. Andy Wa- chowski (The Matrix) is the director. Made $43M. (Bud- get $176M). ***1⁄2

American Sniper - Di- rected by Clint Eastwood, this film tells the true story about Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle’s life (Bradley Cooper) as a sniper in Iraq. Kyle’s pin- point accuracy saved count- less troops on the battlefield and he did four tours in Iraq which affected his family back home. Nominated for Oscar’s best movie, director, and actor, this movie comes under heavy scrutiny because the WAR in Iraq was unjust. Made $330M. (Budget $58M). ****

A non-sociable fiance (Josh Gad) hires the owner (Kevin Hart) of a company that pro- vides the best man and grooms for a wedding. Kevin Hart scores again in this hi- larious comedy. Selma - Directed by Ava DuVernay, this drama takes a look back in Martin Luther King’s (David Oyelowo) cam- paign and struggles to secure equal voting rights by march- ing from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery in 1965. Every young kid and adult should go see this powerful movie to understand how hard it was to VOTE. Nominated for Oscar’s best film, the best di- rector (DuVernay, a Black fe- male director) and Best actor (Oyelowo) were noticeably snubbed.
