UNCF Game Is Friday:
Jameis Winston
Rosters Announced For 30th Annual All-Star Basketball Classic
Visits One Buc Place;
The 30th Annual UNCF All-Star Basketball Classic will be held Friday afternoon at Jefferson High School, 4600 W. Cypress St. The game showcases girls and boys teams from the East side of town vs. the West.
Thirty years ago, Dr. Sam Horton saw a need to show- case the talents of African- American high school basketball players (boys and girls) who were looking to be seen by some college scouts.
Local games that show- cased basketball talent elimi- nated many of the African-American players.
While the students’ talent was showcase, Dr. Horton also used proceeds from the game to donate to the UNCF for scholarships for African- American students.
The Committee has in- vited college scouts from throughout Florida to watch these athletes in action with hopes they can offer players
full scholarships. Funds from the game will support UNCF scholarships.
Those who have been se- lected for the East Boys team, which will be coached by Adrian Johnson of Tampa Bay Tech High School are: Jarred Anderson and Bryant Searcy, Jr. (Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School), Javier Blake (Mid- dleton), Jordan Davis and Darren Girod (Lennard), Quin Griswould and Noah West (Tampa Bay Tech), Kenny Jones and Shawn Pomales (Armwood), Dante Mitchell and Greg Monnie (Brandon High).

(Strawberry Crest), Chyna Lindsey (Tampa Bay Tech), Jacqueline Mayo (Bloom- ingdale), Asia Royster (Seffner Christian Academy), Diamond Smith (Durant High), BreyAhn Waters (Riverview High) and Nicole Wolard (Wharton High).

Philadelphia Eagles Trade Star RB LeSean McCoy
LESEAN MCCOY
The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to trade McCoy, their star running back, to the Buffalo Bills for linebacker Kiko Alonso.
McCoy had an inconsistent season last year after leading the NFL with 1,607 yards rush- ing in 2013. At his best, McCoy is an elite multidimensional running back who has been a proven threat as both a runner and receiver.
One reason for McCoy's drop in production last season was a banged-up offensive line in which all five projected starters never played one game together.
McCoy's addition leaves C.J. Spiller in search of a new team. He is eligible to become a free agent next week.
Trademarks Nickname
Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston was in Tampa Bay Tuesday as part of a meeting with Buccaneers officials.
He spent time with Coach Lovie Smith and Bucs Gen- eral Manager, Jason Licht.
He also issued this state- ment, through the Bucs:
"Being able to play three years in Florida, I would love to stay here in this great state. I've just got to take advantage of this blessing. It's not really important to me to be the first pick, but it is important to me to be picked. I believe that I have been blessed dur- ing my years at Florida State to win a national champi- onship and just be a winning quarterback. And I believe this place – I would love to be here.
I just want them to know that I am human and I'm a great person. This smile isn't fake. I just want to show them that I can be the face of this franchise one day. Actions speak louder than words."Visiting with prospec-

tive teams, about two months before the NFL Draft, is rare. Winston is projected to be the #1 overall draft pick by the Bucs.
In other news....Jameis Winston is making sure his nickname is secure.
According to reports, Winston has filed to trade- mark "Famous Jameis."
Trademarking names and phrases has become standard operating procedure for NFL prospects. Johnny Manziel and Robert Griffin III have both filed for multiple trade- marks over the past few years.
Denver Nuggets Fire Coach
The Denver Nuggets fired coach Brian Shaw on Tues- day morning.
The Nuggets have free- fallen to a 20-39 record in Shaw's second season as coach and have been rife with locker-room issues.
Assistant coach Melvin Hunt will become interim head coach for the remainder of the season and then the team will search for a full- time replacement.
Shaw's firing comes after the Nuggets broke huddle late in Friday's 104-82 loss to the Utah Jazz by chanting, "1- 2-3 ... six weeks!" The Denver Post reported the chant was in reference to six weeks re- maining in the season. On Monday, Shaw denied that
BRIAN SHAW
was the players' intent and said they were referencing the team's home losing streak.
Shaw is the third NBA coach to be fired this season. The Sacramento Kings dis- missed Michael Malone in December and the Orlando Magic fired Jacque Vaughn last month.
