Shooting Following Quarrel Leads To Arrest Of Suspect
USF Football Player Charged With Sexual Battery
Suspect Wanted For Robbing Victim At ATM
Police arrested a 21-year- old man Wednesday after- noon. He is alleged to have shot another man during an argument on a busy highway.
According to the Tampa Police Department, witnesses observed Ivan Diaz and the victim, identified as 28-year- old Marcus A. Meekie en- gaged in an argument at the intersection of S. Dale Mabry and Ohio Avenue Interbay shortly after 2 p.m. At some point during the quarrel, Diaz is alleged to have fired shots at Meekie, but missed.
Diaz is said to have crossed Dale Mabry and Meekie followed him across the street, where the argu- ment continued.
At some point during the argument, Diaz is alleged to have shot Meekie in the groin and fled the scene.
Police established a perime- ter in the area, locking down Robinson High School for a brief period. Diaz was quickly located and taken into custody.

Meekie was transported to a local hospital with non- life threatening injuries.
Diaz was charged with one count of aggravated bat- tery causing great bodily harm. He was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail.

The Tampa Police Depart- ment is currently trying to identify a suspect who robbed a woman inside an ATM ma- chine.
According to police, the in- cident took place shortly be- fore 2 a.m., at the Amscot, 8409 N. Florida Avenue.
The suspect reportedly lin- gered inside the business as the victim withdrew money from the ATM machine. Once she had completed her trans- action, the suspect attacked
her and forcibly took all of the money she had withdrawn. He then fled the area on foot.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for in- formation leading to the ar- rest and conviction of the suspect.

LADARRIUS JACKSON
A 22-year-old athlete is cur- rently being held on a charge of sexual battery. The incident took place Monday on the campus of the University of South Florida.
According to Captain Mike Klingebiel, of the University of South Florida Police De- partment, LaDarrius Jack- son was taken into custody at the Tampa International Air- port Monday night. Captain Klingebiel said Jackson was en route home to Birm- ingham, Alabama because the semester had ended.
Captain Klingebiel said at approximately 3 p.m., officers responded to the Holly Drive Apartments in reference to a sexual assault. The victim told police, the incident took place at 2:30 p.m., that afternoon.
The victim told police that Jackson forced her into her room, where the alleged attack took place. She also told police she is afraid of Jackson and did not leave the room after the incident.
After the alleged attack, she reported the incident to uni- versity housing staff, who as- sisted her in contacting police.
Police said the victim and Jackson are acquaintances.
Jackson transferred to USF from Hinds Community College, in Jackson, Missis- sippi. A junior, he plays defen- sive end on the school’s football team.
Coach Charlie Strong said in a statement that Jack- son has been removed from all team activities.
Jackson was charged with sexual battery on a person 18 years or older; and false im- prisonment. He is currently being held on a $102,000 bond at the Hillsborough County Jail.
18-Year-Old Charged With Molesting Girl
An 18-year-old man ac- cused of molesting a child has been arrested. The incidents took place between Novem- ber of last year and March of this year.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, Javier Maza Morales was an aide for the Redlands Christian Migrant Associa- tion. He worked in the after- school program at Ruskin Elementary School.
On May 1st, Maza Morales was arrested with- out incident and charged with 2 counts of lewd and lascivi- ous molestation and 2 counts of battery. He reportedly ad-

mitted committing the act on a female victim, police said.
