Produced by St. Pete native Will Packer and directed by Malcolm D. Lee (Girls Trip) takes you on a journey of Teddy reorganizing his life in a hilarious and entertaining way through education. The Predator (2018) - A group of convicted soldiers heading to prison (Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Kee- gan-Michael Key and Thomas Jane) and a disgruntled science teacher (Olivia Munn) tries to prevent a super predator (who is hunting other predators) from trying to end the human race. Director Shane Black kept this storyline simple, fun and brutal. Just what you expect from a Predator movie. Enjoyed it! Made -$50M- U.S./ foreign- $72M- (budget- $88M)- ***1/2
Searching - After his 16-year-old daughter Pamela goes missing, a desperate father, David Kim, breaks into her laptop to look for clues to find her. Director Aneesh Chaganty takes you on a ride on how deep you can go with Google search or the power of the internet. Wow! This thriller didn’t get any fanfare, but it’s definitely a MUST SEE! Crazy Rich Asians - Based on a global bestseller, Director Jon M. Chu put together a well-written romantic comedy/drama about a native New Yorker, Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) and her boyfriend Nick Young (Henry Gold- ing) goes to Singapore to meet Nick's crazy family and mom, Eleanor Young (Michelle Yeoh). Must admit this film was surprisingly very good. Must-see. Enjoyed It! - Made - $169M-U.S / foreign-$57M (budget-$30M)- classic
BlacKkKlansman - Director Spike Lee should get an Oscar nomination for this explosive true story film about a Black detective (Denzel’s son - John David Washington) from Colorado, successfully managing to infiltrate the local Ku Klux Klan during the 60s. With the help of white detectives ( Adam Driver, Ken Garito) who eventually becomes head of the local branch, the crew managed to get a meeting with the Grand Wizard David Duke (Topher Grace). Def- initely, a must-see for everyone to see history. You get to see where President Trump gets his slogan “Make America Great Again.” Made $48M / foreign- $35M (budget-$15M)- Classic
The Meg - After escaping an attack from a prehistoric 70 foot shark called ‘The Meg’ several years ago, Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) and his couterpart (Bingbing Li) must confront his fears to save those trapped in a sunken submarine. Not quite a ‘Jaws” with the sounds, but really enjoyed it. Made - $142M-U.S./ foreign- $383M- (budget- $130M)- ****
Mission Impossible - the Fallout - Director Christopher McQuarrie (MIP- Rogue Nation, Jack Reacher) wasted no time getting the action started. Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and the IMF team (Benji- Simon Pegg, Luther- Ving Rhames, Lisa- Rebecca Ferguson) join forces with CIA assassin August Walker (Henry Cavill- Man Of Steel) and his boss Erica Sloan (Angela Bassett) to prevent a disaster of epic proportions. Arms dealer John Lark and a group of terrorists known as the Apostles plan to use three plutonium cores for a simultaneous nuclear attack on the Vatican, Jerusalem and Mecca, Saudi Arabia. When the weapons go missing, Ethan and his crew find themselves in a desperate race against time to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands. Crusie and his production team might be the best at bringing death defying action to the movie screen. Well-written script and action packed. Can't get know better than this. The Equalizer 2 - Director Antione Fuqua (The Equalizer, Training Day) takes you on another action-packed drama about Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) as a savior for the oppressed. McCall gets really off the chain when he finds out his friend Susan Plummer (Melissa Leo) becomes a target by assassins. This film has a good storyline and fast paced. Must-see for Denzel Washington fans. Made -$102M-U.S./ foreign-$83M- (budget- $62M)- ****
