State One Church One Child Of Florida, Inc. Looks For
Florida House Approves
Permanent Homes For Children
Statue In U. S. Capitol
One Church One Child of Florida is reaching out to families and individuals in communities across the state in efforts to help share the truth that children are waiting for a permanent home and/or mentor.
Daily, over 700 children are in need of a family to call their own; many of them are minorities.
Churches are asked to partner with One Church One Child in sharing infor- mation with congregations and extending Watch-Care Ministries to children.
Rev. Beverly Hills Lane, State President for One Church One Child of Florida and Vice-President for National One Church One Child, is challenging fellow Pastors to get in- volved and encouraging families to open their hearts and homes to children in foster care.
February’s child deserves to have a family, too. Do pray sincerely for her and consider making her a part of your family through adoption or a part of your church through Project Watch-Care, for support and mentoring.
Sabrina is featured this
She has no preference of family type - she said if she had two dads she could be a “daddies’ girl,” and the more siblings there are the more love to go around. But, she is very clear about one thing: she wants more than any- thing in the world to mean the world to someone.
Sabrina has such a bright, amazing future ahead of her. She needs and deserves to be part of a lov- ing, encouraging and ac- cepting forever family.
If you are interested in knowing more about Sab- rina and other children in foster care available for adoption, or if you would like to become a foster par- ent, mentor, partner or vol- unteer, please attend a One Church One Child Educa- tion Training at Bethel Mis- sionary Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 6:30 – 7:30 p. m. Re- freshments will be served. Bethel is located at 804 W. Renfro St., Plant City, Florida 33563, and is the new location for One Church One Child’s SunCoast office.

‘I want to learn to drive!’
Sabrina was born with a song in her heart. She’s an- imated, outgoing, hilarious, and almost always smiling. She loves people, and gives herself wholeheartedly to being a great friend.
Sabrina is serious about her health; about eating well (though she has a soft spot for lasagna!), and staying ac- tive. Gymnastics and dance are her two favorite sports, and she’d really like to be ei- ther a gymnast or a dance therapist when she grows up.
By a vote of 111-1 last Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 20, 2018, the Florida House ap- proved HB 139 to place a statue of Mary McLeod Bethune in the U. S. Capi- tol’s Statuary Hall. The bill was signed by Governor Rick Scott.
U. S. Rep. Kathy Cas- tor led a bipartisan effort to urge the Florida Legislature to replace the U. S. Capitol statue of Confederate Gen. Kirby Smith with a statue of the great educator, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. Florida will be the first state to be repre- sented by an African Ameri- can in National Statuary Hall in the U. S. Capitol.
“More than 14,000 grad- uates and countless others have benefitted from the measure and manifestation of ‘the answered prayer of a dream of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, to pro- vide an education for African Americans and others which has and continues to trans- form the fabric of this coun- try from hatred and division to cooperati0n and brother- hood. This honor is a pivotal moment for Bethune-Cook- man University, our nation and our world,” said Retired Judge Hubert Grimes, In- terim President.
Among her accomplish- ments, Dr. Bethune, civil

Dr. Bethune founded the Daytona Literary and In- dustrial Training School for Negro Girls in 1904 with $1.50 and faith in God. Bethune’s school eventu- ally became Bethune-Cook- man University in Daytona Beach.
B-CU Board of Trustees members Nancy Lohman and Dr. Lucille O’Neal will spearhead fundraising efforts for the statue’s com- pletion.
