Prosecutors and police said Wednesday that the sus- pects set out to kill the re- tired baseball player to collect an $8,000 bounty placed on his head.
In a news conference in the Dominican Republic, Ney Aldrin Bautista Al- monte, director of the na- tional police, showed reporters the handgun used in the attempted hit job on Ortiz Sunday.
A manhunt was on late Wednesday for a seventh suspect. He was identified by police as Luis Alfredo Rivas Clase, who also goes by the nickname "The Sur- geon."
Almonte said all seven men were part of the murder plot that left Ortiz with a bullet wound to the back.
The suspected gunman who shot Ortiz was identi- fied by police as 25-year-old Rolfy Ferreyra Cruz. Cruz is among those under arrest, according to police.

Celtics Contract Option,
Test NBA Free Agency
Kyrie Irving reportedly will be a free agent after de- ciding he will not exercise his $21.3 million player option for the 2019-20 season.
Although Irving can still return to the Boston Celtics, he will now have a chance to sign with any team in the NBA.
Depending on where he goes, the 2019 All-NBA sec- ond-team guard has a chance to significantly alter the land- scape of the league.
Irving is coming off one of the best seasons of his ca- reer, averaging 23.8 points while setting career highs with 6.9 assists and 5.0 re- bounds per game. He not
