Tessa Thompson Hopes To Inspire A Young Generation Of People In Men In Black: International; Opens Friday
Tessa Thompson contin- ues to be all kinds of goals.
Speaking to reporters at the New York City premiere of Men in Black: International, the 35- year-old actress shared the heartwarming and empowering reason she signed on to a "movie of this scale." Aside from working with Chris Hemsworth, of course!
For her, she wants to inspire a young generation of women and men. "That's why I made this movie," she explained.
"As a woman, you're so used to going into movies where the hero is a male protagonist, and you relate to it just because that's what the movie wants you to do," she said on the red carpet. "I love the idea of young boys going in and relating to this character of Agent M, even though she's a woman."
She continued, "I think there's an opportunity to really come closer to someone you consider 'the other' in cinema,
TESSA THOMPSON AND CHRIS HEMSWORTH
so that's why I make films." The brunette beauty ex- pressed how proud she felt to be part of this iconic franchise. "I always loved to act as a kid but I never imagined that I would be making movies, never
mind movies of this scale." She added, "To be able to work inside of a universe that I've admired so deeply, and this franchise, has been such a dream. I really can't believe it."

The Notorious B.I.G. Honored With A Brooklyn Street Naming Ceremony
CLINTON HILL, BROOK- LYN, NY – Torrential rains and an unfortunate helicopter acci- dent in nearby Manhattan weren’t enough to detract the thousands of people that showed up in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn, NY, to wit- ness history in the making.
The corner of Fulton Street and St. James Avenue — once located in a redlined district — got a new name on Monday, June 10, 2019: Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace Way, named of course for the late, great Biggie Smalls.
The street naming was a historic event that was years in the making: B.I.G. is the first rapper of his kind to be hon- ored in such a way, but previ- ous attempts to name the street in his honor were shut down by activists who claimed that he was a “bad influence” on

Brooklyn youth.
For City Councilman
Robert Cornegy Jr. — who grew up just one floor down from the Wallace family at 226 St. James Place, just up the road from the street corner named in the late rapper’s honor — the street naming was a long time coming.
Meek Mill Honored With NYU's Vanguard For Social Justice Award
Since his prison release in 2018, Meek Mill has been outspoken about prison re- form. Due to his experiences with the criminal justice sys- tem, it's understandable that the Philadelphia rapper has be- come passionate about making sure that others don't slip and fall through the cracks. Thanks to the progress he has made in his nonprofit organization RE- FORM Alliance, New York Uni- versity's (NYU) McSilver Institute awarded him its Social Justice Award. Tarana Burke, #MeToo founder, pre- viously received the distinction.
"I'm honored by this recog-

nition," Mill said in a state- ment, per Okayplayer. "When I was released from prison last year, I knew I had a responsi- bility to use my voice to speak up for the voiceless and fight for criminal justice reform”.
