Simone Biles Makes History, Wins Every Event At World Gymnastics Championships

Simone Biles made his- tory as the first American to win a medal in every event at the World Gymnastics Cham- pionship.
Not quite a year after she returned to gymnastics train- ing, Biles dominated event fi- nals on Saturday where she took home gold in the floor ex- ercise and bronze on the bal- ance beam. She had previously won gold in the team final, in- dividual all-around and vault to go with silver in the uneven bars.
The 21-year-old earned six medals in the meet and 20 overall in world champi- onships, tied with Svetlana Khorkina of Russia for the most by a female gymnast.
As if this isn’t incredible enough, Biles was hospital- ized the day before competing with a kidney stone. Despite hospitalization for a kidney stone just a day before the world gymnastics champi- onship in Doha, Simone Biles was dominant in quali- fying, showing the world why she is the reigning Olympic champion.
Biles left the hospital with- out passing the kidney stone she has dubbed the “Doha pearl.”
Saturday’s world gymnas- tics performance comes two years after Biles dominated the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, earning five medals, including four golds. She won gold in the individual all-around, team all-around, floor exercise and vault and bronze in the balance beam, al- though failed to medal on the uneven bars.

Kobe Bryant, the former Los Angeles Laker MVP shoot guard and Oscar winner for the animated short film Dear Basketball, recently unveiled the upcoming 2019 projects for his multi-platform enter- tainment company Granity Studios.
Granity is zeroing on cre- ating and producing inspir- ing, youth-oriented sports-meets-fantasy-themed content with a diverse array of characters within publish- ing, television, feature and live theater genres.
The company plans to publish five Middle Grade and Young Adult novels for release next year and in 2020, under their own label and in a distribution partnership

Tyson Chandler Bought
Out By Suns, Plans To
Sign With Lakers
After clearing waivers on a contract buyout with the Phoenix Suns, center Tyson Chandler plans to sign a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Chandler, 36, will be a backup to starting center JaVale McGee for the Lak- ers, who are desperate for an infusion of size and defen- sive rebounding.
Chandler is a native of Los Angeles, and he has been anxious to find a new home amid the Suns' rebuild. The sides agreed to a buyout on the $13.6 million left in the final year of his original four- year deal, sources said."We love the fact that we're going to get another veteran," Lak- ers star LeBron James said. another champion to add to the champions that we have in this system here today, and it adds depth in our frontcourt, which we have had trouble with at times."
The prorated minimum for Chandler once he clears waivers will be $2.1 million. The Lakers will have a $1.3 million cap hit on the books.
