Cars Set Afire In Front Of Home Ruled Arson

The Tampa Fire Depart- ment responded to a fire in- volving two vehicles early Monday. The fires have been ruled as arson.
According to a spokesman with the Tampa Fire Depart- ment, fire rescue responded to 3218 W. Lemon Street, at approximately 1:15 a.m. When firemen arrived, they discovered two automobiles were fully engulfed and put- ting the home at risk of burn- ing. Firemen quickly extinguished the fires and prevented them from spread- ing to the home.
There were no injuries re- ported.
Investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office re- sponded to the scene and de- termined that the cause of the fires were deliberately set.
Investigators said an unidentified man entered the
driveway of the home on foot and was holding a container. He is alleged to have poured an ignitable liquid on both cars and left a trail of fluid on the ground.
The suspect then ignited the trail which in turn, ig- nited both cars, officials said.
The two vehicles have been ruled a total loss. Dam- age to the home is estimated at $1,200.
The investigation is con- tinuing. However, no arrests had been made at press time.

A reward of up to $2,500 is available for information leading to the identification of the person involved in the arson fire.
Police have identified the victims in a traffic accident that took place last Thursday. The accident took place at the intersection of E. Bougainvil- lea and N. 15th Street early Thursday.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the chil- dren have been identified as Alexandra Torres-Bane- gas, 6; Allinson Galindo, 6; Perla Galindo, 12; Sandy Quintana, 9; and Enrique Antonio Tobias Patino, 6.
The adults injured have been identified as Yanely Ju- rado, 31, and 32-year-old Laura Patino Chavez.
The driver of the Ford Es- cort involved in the accident has been identified as Brian Darnell West, 47, of Tampa.
The investigation is contin- uing.
Plant City Man Charged With Killing Woman

A 37-year-old man is fac- ing a murder charge. He is ac- cused of shooting a woman last week following an alterca- tion.
According to police, offi- cers responded to the 1000 block of 15th Avenue, S., in ref- erence to a shooting. When they arrived, they discovered Ms. Christina Veronica Rush, 27, had been shot. She died later as a result of the shooting.
The investigation led po- lice to Marco Nicholas Murray, of Plant City. In ad- dition to the murder charge, he was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

tainer with blood smeared on it. Under the container, the of- ficer found a firearm with blood on it and investigators discovered a trail of blood drops leading from that resi- dence to the liquor store park- ing lot, ending at the spot where the officers had found Hill.
A surveillance video from the grocery store showed a man staggering across the parking lot and crossing the street toward the liquor store. Witnesses also reported see- ing Hill stumble and sway as he approached the liquor store. DNA from the blood on the firearm and recycling bin matched Hill’s DNA and a firearms and ballistics expert determined that two of the cartridge cases from the shooting scene were fired from the firearm linked to Hill.

A 27-year old man has pleaded guilty to having a gun in his possession while being a convicted felon. He is facing a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
According to court docu- ments, on January 25, 2017, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Lavonta Hill was involved in a shootout in a residential area on 15th Avenue South, near 16th Street South, in St. Peters- burg. Shortly after the shoot- ing, St. Petersburg Police Department officers found Hill on the ground in the parking lot of a nearby liquor store, bleeding from his head and one arm. Hill, who at the time was a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition, de- nied knowing where the shooting occurred, who shot him, or why.
He was taken to a hospital and treated for gunshot wounds.
Further investigation by police determined that the shooting had occurred in an area on 15th Street South en- compassing several houses, where at least 62 rounds of ammunition had been fired.

LASHAUD GOLDEN ... Charged with murder
The St. Petersburg Police Department has arrested a 27-year-old man and charged him with murder. He is charged with killing a man whose body was found in his car.
According to police, on October 29th, Derrick L. Williams, Jr., 29, was found dead inside his car in the 100 block of 38th Street, North. Williams suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.

sponsible for the murder. Po- lice had located and arrested Golden the day before on an unrelated carjacking and shooting. In that incident, Golden allegedly shot Gene Carter in the back during an attempt to rob him. That crime took place at 35th Street, S and 4th Avenue, South, police said.
Golden has been charged with second-degree murder, attempted felony murder, carjacking (with weapon or firearm), and being a delin- quent in possession of a firearm.
