Ruskin Man Pleads Guilty To Wire Fraud

A 40-year-old man has been indicted for making false statements to defraud credit unions. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 20 years in prison on each charge.
Richard E. Bowe, of Riverview, is facing four counts of making false state- ments to federally insured credit unions. The indictment also notifies Bowe that the United States intends to for- feit $96,184.13, which is al- leged to be the proceeds of the charged criminal conduct.
According to the indict- ment, between January and early March 2015, Bowe sought a number of loans from credit unions. In his loan applications, he falsely indicated that he was em- ployed by the United States Army Contracting Command as a Deputy Inspector Gen- eral, and that he was earning a monthly salary in excess of $14,000.
Bowe also falsified infor- mation about his military service and VA benefits.

A Ruskin man entered a guilty plea in federal court last week. He was charged with one count of wire fraud.
Jeffrey Perry, 56, is fac- ing a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison. A sen- tencing date has not yet been set.
According to the plea agreement, Perry was in- volved in promoting and seeking investors in Life Link Travel, Inc. Perry indicated to investors that Life Link was going to open an online travel club portal and web-
site. He often appealed to in- vestors’ religious beliefs, telling them that their profits from Life Link would allow them to donate to worthy re- ligious charities.
Between 2009 and 2014, Perry promoted this invest- ment opportunity to various investors. Most of the funds came through wire transfers from investors outside of Florida, into Perry’s bank accounts in Florida. The Life Link website and portal never commenced operation, offi- cials said.
Investors were unaware that the large majority of funds that Perry had per- suaded them to “invest” in Life Link actually funded Perry’s gambling and other personal expenses.
