MRS. LINDA SUE POOLE BROWN
Mrs. Linda Sue Poole Brown, age 69, transitioned to glory on Monday, July 01, 2019. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 06, 2019, at 10 a. m., at Victory A.M.E. Church, 5202 S. 86th Street, Progress Village, Rev. Michael B. Price, Pastor and Eulogist. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL.
Linda was born in Tampa on March 03, 1950, to Mary Lillie Gadson and James O’Neal Poole, Sr. She was the 2nd of 8 children.
Linda was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate of Middleton Senior High School, class of 1968.
On April 25, 1970, Linda married Arthur ‘Skip’ Brown, the absolute love of her life. They remained happily married for 30 years until his untimely passing on December 09, 2000.
Linda and Skip compli- mented each other perfectly and shared a loving and sup- portive bond. Linda counted it as a blessing to have met her fu- ture husband that fateful Sun- day at Ben T. Davis Beach. That encounter forever changed her life and offered immeasurable joy in the form of a committed marriage for years to come. From this union, 2 children were born, Shaundra and Nicole.
Linda’s faith and relation- ship with God was the center of her life. She was a lifelong AME, spending 20+ years at St. Mary/Unity A.M.E. Church, in Seffner, FL. After her husband’s passing, she joined St. James A.M.E. Church, Progress Vil- lage. In both churches, Linda was extremely active, serving on the Steward Board, in the Women’s Missionary Society and Lay Organization.
Professionally, she worked at General Telephone and was among the first minorities to in- tegrate the company.
Later in life, Linda transi- tioned to working in the med- ical field, with her last position being an Office Manager for a medical office.
Linda made friends easily and loved talking to people and getting to know them. She was known within the family for her ‘phone marathons,’ which could easily last for hours as she called and received calls from one friend after another. After she retired, we often joked that her new full-time job was talk- ing on the phone to her best friend of 48 years, Gloria As- bury Hinds Jiles.
