2 Teenagers Hit By Gunfire In After

The Tampa Police Depart- ment is currently investigating a shooting that left two stu- dents injured last Friday. The shooting took place a short distance from Middleton High School.
According to police, two girls were walking near the in- tersection of N. 24th Street and E. Curtis Avenue, just after dismissal of Middleton High School.
An unidentified suspect d several shots in the area. Both teenagers are seniors at Mid- dleton High School.
One 17-year-old girl was hit in the leg by what appeared to be a ricochet bullet. She re- ceived minor injuries. She was transported to a local hospital.
The second girl, an 18- year-old, was grazed on the foot by a bullet. She was pro- vided medical attention at the scene.
Although the shooting did not take place on the campus, the school was placed under lockdown during the investi- gation.
The names of the victims were not released by police.
A 37-year-old man was sentenced to an additional 8 years in prison last week. The Court ordered the sentence to run consecutively to his exist- ing sentence of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Timothy Whittington, Jr., 37, of Kansas, pleaded guilty on November 16, 2017.
According to court docu- ments, on June 22, 2017, while Whittington was an inmate at the Federal Correc- tional Complex, he repeatedly stabbed another inmate in the arm and neck with a shank in the prison cafeteria.
Tips Identify Man Wanted For Bank Robbery

Detectives have learned the identity of a man they believe robbed a bank last week. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
According to detectives with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the man en- tered the Wells Fargo Bank, 12233 N. Florida Avenue, shortly after 2 p.m.
He approached a teller, im- plied that he had a weapon, and demanded cash. The teller complied and the man fled the scene on foot.
After police released the man’s description, tips began pouring into Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay. Based on infor- mation received, police have identified the man as 38-year- old Warren Latis Maxwell.

Police are attempting to identify a man who robbed a business at gunpoint. The robbery took place around 10 p.m. last Thursday.
Police said the man walked into the Dollar Gen- eral, 459 Brandon Blvd. Once inside, produced a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded money.
In addition to the money, he also took a Google Pixel cell phone that belonged to one of the employees.
He is described as a Black man, between 6’2” and 6’4” with a heavy build. He was wearing a surgeon’s mask and carrying a black and gray drawstring bag.

Felon Caught In Sting Sentenced To 18 Years
Student Arrested For Copycat School Threats
A 39-year-old Tampa man was sentenced last week for possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. He pleaded guilty to the charge on No- vember 8, 2017.
Judge Susan C. Buck- lew sentenced Javis D. Wilson to 18 years and 4 months in federal prison.
According to court docu- ments, Wilson sold under- cover agents cocaine, ammunition, and 9 firearms, including a Mossberg 30-06 caliber rifle, a Lorcin Engi- neering .25 caliber handgun, and a Taurus International .40 caliber handgun, for over a year.

lieve that the firearms would be trafficked to and resold in the New York area.
A 14-year-old student was arrested and charged with making written threats to kill or do bodily injury. The elec- tronic communication is con- sidered as copycat threats of the recent murders in Broward County.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Ed- ward Charles Osgood was arrested at his home last Sat- urday.
On Friday night, around 11 p.m., Osgood was at a friend’s house. He is alleged to have posted on Snapchat, a threatening photograph of himself and wrote, “Round 3 on Florida on Tuesday.” In the photograph, he appears to be holding an AR 15 Style assault rifle.
Around 1:15 p.m., Satur- day, deputies were notified of the message and began their investigation. Using inves- tigative techniques, deputies were about to identify the suspect in the photograph as Osgood.

teenager and he admitted posting the photograph on his Snapchat account. He told detectives he had posted the photograph after seeing the one posted by a white male in Spartanburg, South Carolina that stated, “Round 2 on Florida tomorrow.”
Police said he used his friend’s replica of an AR15 Style rifle and took a selfie. He also identified Lealman Innovation Academy as the target.
Ex-Correctional Officer Gets 24 Months For Bribes
A former federal correc- tions officer was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison recently.
Judge James D. Whit- temore handed down the sentence to Albert Larry Harris, Jr. ,27, of Lake County for accepting a bribe as a public official.
He pleaded guilty on No- vember 15, 2017.
According to the plea agreement, Harris worked as a Correctional Officer at the Coleman Federal Correc- tional Complex. In June 2017, he began providing contra- band (drugs and tobacco products) to inmates in ex- change for large cash pay- ments.

On August 22, 2017, Har- ris met with an undercover agent in Ocala and accepted a $5,000 bribe and 200 Subox- one strips for delivery to a federal inmate. He was ar- rested following the ex- change.
