First-Ever Black Student Body President Elected At Yale University
FBI Reports Operation Safe Summer Located 231 Missing Children In Atlanta
Yale University recently elected its first Black student body president this year. Kahlil Greene is officially the first Black student to be elected to the position in the university's 318-year history. Greene, a junior at Yale and Montgomery County, Mary- land native, reportedly made history in May 2019, when his classmates elected him head of the Yale College Council, the student body or- ganization founded in 1972 to address undergraduate con- cerns and campus issues at the university.
“I feel like I wanted to kind of amplify the voices of the underserved communities on campus, especially students of color. So being the first Black president, I feel like I’m in a position where I can re- ally do that,” Greene said.
When asked if he feels the

pressure of being the first black president, Greene told Fox5,“naway,butIfeellike it more so symbolizes the progress the university has made over the years for the journey that we still have ahead of us. So I think that we can be a more diverse and inclusive campus, and I’m
grateful for the role that I’ll have in making it happen."
This is possibly the first of many leadership roles for Greene. Greene is cur- rently majoring in economics and political science at the Ivy League institution and re- vealed that he is considering a career in politics.
On Thursday (May 30), the FBI’s Atlanta Field Office no- tified the public of the status of its Operation Safe Summer (OSS). The initiative, which took place from May 1-24, lo- cated and rescued “231 miss- ing and/or exploited children” in the metro area, FOX 5 News reports.
In a statement, Special Agent in charge of FBI At- lanta, Chris Hacker spoke on the operation’s feat. “Thanks to the month-long efforts of our partners, 231 children are no longer vulner- able to predators who would seek to exploit them," Hacker said. “Operation Safe Summer is another ex- ample of the FBI’s commit- ment to protecting our children before they become victims.”
The National Center for Missing Exploited Children (NCMEC) found that in 2018, over the 23,500 runaways re- ported to the organization, one in seven were assumed to be child sex trafficking vic- tims. A report published by
the FBI also notes that in March 2019, an estimate of "419 missing/runaway chil- dren on the streets of the five- county Metro Atlanta region" were cataloged.
Recently, CNN published a report on the city’s re-exam- ining of evidence concerning the unsolved murders of chil- dren in Atlanta in the late '70s into the early '80s. Backed by new technological advances, the decision seeks to provide closure for families. The re- vamped investigation will also take into account con- victed murderer Wayne Williams, who's serving life for multiple murders.

HOUSTON (AP) — The re- mains of a child found in Arkansas last week are those of a missing 4-year-old Texas girl, Maleah Davis, a med- ical examiner said Monday.
The Harris County Insti- tute of Forensic Sciences said it had positively identified the remains, which were flown to Texas from Arkansas, where they had been found near a freeway outside the town of Hope.
Derion Vence, the man who had been arrested in connection with Maleah’s disappearance, told a com- munity activist he had dis- posed of her body there.
The institute of forensic sciences says the cause and manner of her death are not yet determined.
Vence, the ex-fiance of Maleah’s mother, remains jailed on a charge of tamper- ing with evidence.
