Wrong Way Driver Involved In Traffic Accident
Daughter Of Educators Graduates From Meharry Medical School
An elderly man was taken to a hospital after being in- volved in a traffic accident. The accident took place in the 3300 block of Adamo Drive shortly before 2 a.m., Thurs- day.
According to police, Robert Launey, who was described as elderly, was driv- ing a 2006 Ford SUV west-
bound in the eastbound lanes without his headlights. His vehicle struck a Mitsubishi sedan driven by Ms. Kati Altman. Ms. Altman was treated at the scene for minor lacerations.
Launey was transported to Tampa General Hospital, with non-life threatening in- juries, police said.

In March, more than 41,000 medical students took part in Match Day 2015. One of those individuals was Tampa native, Dr. JaMia Washington.
During the event, the stu- dents were called one by one to the front of the audito- rium. A family member, friend, or mentor read the Match and the student learned where he or she would begin their respective careers.
Her parents, longtime educators Henry “Shake” and Cheryl Washington, along with other family members were on hand for the occasion. Dr. Washing- ton’s father called her name and informed her that she was matched with Case Western/University Hospi- tal, in Cleveland, Ohio.
After Dr. Washington completes her residency in Internal Medicine, she hopes to complete a fellowship in Cardiology. As a youngster, Dr. Washington always had aspirations of becoming a physician.
After graduating Valedic- torian of Traditional Educa- tion at Hillsborough High School in 2003, she earned a B. S. degree in Health Sci- ence from the University of Miami.
In 2007, she graduated from Florida International University, in Miami, with a Masters of Health Service Administration. Her next stop was Meharry Medical School, in Nashville, Ten-
Motorist Killed After Vehicle Breaks Down On Interstate
A 24-year-0ld man was killed late Wednesday night. He was struck by a vehicle after his vehicle broke down and he walking on the Inter- state.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident took place in the northbound lane of I-75 at Fowler Avenue. Adrian Carlton Fedrick, Jr., of Wesley Chapel, had been driving a pickup truck towing a U-Haul trailer, around 11:15 p.m.
The truck and trailer sepa- rated and both came to rest in the inside center lane on the Interstate. Fedrick report- edly got out of the pickup truck and began walking on Interstate 75 in the inside cen-
ter lane ahead of his disabled vehicle.
Officials said as he walked, a 2007 Nissan, driven by Jes- sica Lori Burgess, 25, of Tampa, collided with the dis- abled trailer. Ms. Burgess was able to stop her vehicle after the impact.
Officials said James Robert Connolly, 29, of Spring Hill, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet pickup. Con- nolly, who was also traveling northbound on the Interstate, reportedly passed the disabled vehicle and struck Fedrick. Fedrick died at the scene.
No other injuries were re- ported to police. Charges are pending and the investigation is continuing.

Robles Park Residents Asked To Attend Meeting
Robles Park Public Housing Complex Resident Council President, Reva Iman wants all residents to be present at a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 3rd.
The meeting is being held to discuss plans for a food bank and also to get input on establishing a not-for-profit organiza- tion.
Residents also need to meet to discuss the election of a new vice-president, and go over fundraising ideas to replace items needed to initiate programs planned for the summer.

matched with Mississippi Jackson Hospital, in OB/GYN; and Dr. KeAn- drea Rosa Titer matched with Loma Linda University School of Medicine, in Birm- ingham, Alabama.
