Clippers coach Doc Rivers is happy to be reunited with Paul Pierce, but isn't sure yet how the they will utilize the veteran swingman.
BOSTON -- Reunited with Paul Pierce this offseason, Los Angeles Clippers coach Doc Rivers said Wednesday night he has yet to determine a set role for the veteran swing- man.
Rivers did, however, have an idea how the 37-year-old could help his team.
"Well, hopefully make some shots when we are up 20 in the fourth quarter. That would be nice," quipped Rivers.

Turning more serious, Rivers added, "Paul will be great. Paul, I don't want to overuse him. I know that. So, I don't even know how we are going to use him yet. I want to play him at [power forward] a lot. What I want him to be is healthy in the playoffs. So how- ever we can figure that out, that's what I'm going to try to do."

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A federal jury has convicted a former personal assistant of Gilbert Arenas of stealing more than $2 million from the former NBA basketball player.
The jury on Wednesday found 40-year-old John White guilty of 11 counts of wire fraud and four counts of filing a false tax-related docu- ment.
He faces dozens of years in prison when he is sentenced in November.
He was indicted last April.
Prosecutors say White made unauthorized online bank transfers worth $2.1 million from Arenas' account.

Judge Rules In Favor Of
Tom Brady In Deflategate;
NFL Appeals Decision
NEW YORK -- A federal judge erased New England Pa- triots quarterback Tom Brady's four-game suspen- sion Thursday for the Deflate- gate controversy that the NFL claimed threatened football's integrity.
U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell went too far in af- firming punishment of the Super Bowl-winning quarter- back, criticizing him for dis- pensing "his own brand of industrial justice." Brady has insisted he played no role in a conspiracy to deflate footballs below the allowable limit at last season's AFC Championship
Game.
"As I have said during this
process and throughout his Pa- triots career, Tom Brady is a classy person of the highest in- tegrity. He represents every- thing that is great about this game and this league," Patriots owner Robert Kraft said in a statement. "Yet, with ab- solutely no evidence of any ac- tions of wrongdoing by Tom in the Wells report, the lawyers at the league still insisted on im- posing and defending unwar- ranted and unprecedented discipline. Judge Richard Berman understood this and we are greatly appreciative of his thoughtful decision that was delivered today. Now, we can return our focus to the game on the field."
Berman's ruling, however, will not end the dispute; the league appealed the decision later Thursday.
"We are grateful to Judge Berman for hearing this mat- ter, but respectfully disagree with today's decision," Good- ell said in a statement. "We will appeal today's ruling in order to uphold the collectively bargained responsibility to pro- tect the integrity of the game. The commissioner's responsi-
TOM BRADY
bility to secure the competitive fairness of our game is a para- mount principle, and the league and our 32 clubs will continue to pursue a path to that end."
The appeal will take place in the U.S. Appeals Court, 2nd Circuit. The league did not seek an emergency stay, freeing Brady to play while an appeals court considers the case, which likely will take months.
"Because there was no notice of a four-game suspension in the circumstances presented here, Commissioner Good- ell may be said to have 'dis- pensed his own brand of industrial justice,'' Berman wrote, partially citing wording from a previous case. He said a player's right to notice was "at the heart'' of the collective bar- gaining agreement "and, for that matter, of our criminal and civil justice systems.''Berman cited "several significant legal deficiencies'' in the league's handling of the controversy, in- cluding no advanced notice of potential penalties, the refusal to produce a key witness and the apparent first-ever disci- pline of a player based on a finding of "general awareness'' of someone else's wrongdoing.
"The court finds that Brady had no notice that he could re- ceive a four-game suspension for general awareness of ball deflation by others,'' the judge wrote.
Report: Cavaliers Don’t Fear
LeBron James Leaving Cleveland
Over Tristan Thompson
After LeBron James said Tristan Thompson should spend the rest of his career with the Cavaliers, there was talk LeBron would wait to re- sign until Cleveland locked up Thompson. LeBron and Thompson share an agent, Rich Paul, who once said Le- Bron considers the agency and its clients to be family.
But LeBron already re- signed, and Thompson contin- ues to wait for a max offer.
Crisis averted?
The Cavs apparently didn’t
think there was one to begin with.
