October Is National Bullying Prevention Month
TALLAHASSEE, FL - The Florida Agricultural and Me- chanical University (FAMU) world-renowned Marching “100” is headed to the presti- gious Tournament of Roses Parade in 2019.
The University’s band has received an invitation to par- ticipate in this Rose Bowl- connected event in Pasadena, California.
The Marching “100′′ has mesmerized audiences around the globe for more than 70 years.

Prevention Center.
Every October, schools
and organizations across the country join STOMP Out Bul- lyingTM in observing National Bullying Prevention Month.
The goal: encourage com- munities to work together to stop bullying and cyberbully- ing by increasing awareness of
the prevalence and impact of bullying on children of all ages.
This campaign has grown from an initial week-long event to a worldwide effort with thousands of individuals participating in multiple activ- ities throughout October.
Hundreds of schools, major corporations, and many celebrities have joined the movement. Take action and show that you care about kids being safe at school, while on- line, and in the community.
Day events in the nation, an opportunity to participate in the Tournament of Roses Pa- rade provides a unique plat- form to entertain millions of
viewers on one of the most recognized stages in the world.
This marks FAMU’s first appearance in the parade.

Abel Cedeno, 18, con- fronted his harassers after they hit him in the back of the head with numerous pencils. After taking a 2-piece to the face, Abel pulled his switch- blade and plunged it into the chest of 15-year-old Matthew McCree multiple times, then stabbed 16-year- old Ariane LaBoy for trying to help.
Abel says he’s been bullied for years about his sexual ori- entation.
“I guess I just snapped,” Abel Cedeno, 18, said from a guarded cell at Rikers Is- land. “I didn’t mean to kill him.”
He went on to say:
“They bully me because I’m different. I’m not like the other boys.’’

The New Jersey residents will go to the Caribbean as part of a program known as EMAC (Emergency Manage- ment Assistant Compact). This allows U.S. states and territories to share state/ter- ritory resources to help one another after a natural or manmade disaster.

family friend Jonathan Wilson recounted last Sat- urday. “(Laboy) didn’t want to talk to anybody anymore. Everybody had to leave the hospital.”
Laboy was stabbed and gashed when he jumped to the aid of a badly bleeding McCree, who died a short time later — the first New York City school killing since 1993.
