Police Investigate Gunfire Exchange In East Tampa
Police Investigate Death Of Inmate
     Detectives with the Tampa Police Department are cur- rently searching for a suspect in a shooting. The incident took place in the 3900 block of E. Ellicott Saturday evening.
According to police, the two unidentified men had previously engaged in a phys- ical confrontation. About an hour later, both men were in the Family Dollar, but there was no contact between them.
Later, the victim drove down the 3900 block of E. El- licott Street, near a residence where the other man was lo- cated. The other man is said to have produced a gun and fired several shots in the direction of the victim and his vehicle.
The victim then got out of the car and returned fire, shooting at the suspect. The victim then fled the scene, po- lice said.
However, he was stopped by officers a short distance away. No one was injured in the exchange of gunfire, police said.
Police said it appears all of those involved were ac- quainted and it was not a ran- dom act.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigat- ing the death of an inmate. The inmate died on Monday.
According to police, Ms. Kai Summers, 42, was ar- rested on an active warrant and booked into the Orient Road Jail.
On Sunday, August 2nd, Ms. Summers’ health de- clined and she was trans- ported to Tampa General

Hospital for evaluation. She had previously been diag- nosed with a host of medical issues.
At 2:57 p.m., on August 3, Ms. Summers was pro- nounced deceased.
The Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of her body and the cause of death is pending the autopsy.
The investigation is con- tinuing.
Remains Identified As Young Woman Reported Missing
    3 Injured In
The skeletal remains found in Lakeland last week has been identified as be- longing to a woman reported missing.
The Lakeland Police De- partment has confirmed with the District 10 Medical Ex- aminer’s Office that the human remains located on July 29, 2020, near the 2000 block of West Bella Vista Street are those of Ms. Tak- eria Adderly.
Ms. Adderly, 22-years- old, had been reported miss- ing by her family to the Lakeland Police Department on June 30, 2020.
On July 7, 2020, Ms. Adderly’s vehicle was lo- cated abandoned in south- east Lakeland. Evidence from her vehicle recovery led investigators to identify a person of interest in Ms. Adderly’s disappearance.
That person, Cristian Darrach, age 21, was lo- cated on July 10, 2020, and interviewed. The investiga- tion, at that time, developed enough probable cause to ar- rest Darrach for grand theft and burglary of Ms. Adderly’s vehicle, as well as additional charges of tam- pering with evidence and vio- lation of probation. Darrach remains in the Polk County Jail on these charges at this time. He also remains a primary person of interest in Ms. Adderly’s disappearance and now her death.
Ms. Adderly’s body was located, concealed within heavy vegetation near the 2000 block of West Bella Vista Street, by a team of ca- nine handlers that were con- ducting training exercises in

the early hours of July 29, 2020. An autopsy concluded that Ms. Adderly’s death was a result of a homicide.

 Shooting On N. 56th Street

       The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigat- ing a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, near E. Sligh Avenue and N. 56th Street.
Deputies responded to the Chevron Gas Station, 6812 N. 56th Street around 4 a.m., fol- lowing reports of a fight. Upon arrival, deputies located approximately 250 people gathered outside the busi- ness.
According to 911 callers, multiple people began shoot- ing after an altercation broke out. Three people were hit. All
three victims were trans- ported to Tampa General Hospital.
Witnesses at the scene were uncooperative with the deputies. The investigation is continuing.
