Love, Hope & Pizza, in part- nership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), has made services available to women in need at Moffitt Cancer Center, in- cluding mammograms, diag- nostic services and patient navigation.
“Early detection saved my life,” said Hungry Howie’s as- sociate Andrea Adair, who is a Lakeland resident and two-time breast cancer sur- vivor.
Love, Hope & Pizza in- cludes local projects, such as the “Love & Hope Quilt” and “Hands of Hope” art mural. A program of Hungry Howie’s Pizza, the program raises funds for NBCF, which has re- ceived Charity Navigator’s top rating since 2003.
“One in eight women are di- agnosed with breast cancer,” said Adair. “We’ve brought services to the Tampa Bay
area and around the country by raising more than $1.5 mil- lion to provide support, edu- cation and research.”
Locally, Hungry Howie’s invites the community to join them in dedicating a public art project—the "Hands of Hope" mural. The mural ded- ication and survivor signing takes place on October 1 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 3073 18th Ave. S, St. Petersburg. The public is welcome to dedicate a handprint to a survivor or lost loved one.
In the month of October, Hungry Howie’s pizzas will be served in pink Love, Hope & Pizza boxes with the NBCF logo. A portion of all pizza sales and brownies with pink icing and 100 percent of sales of Love, Hope & Pizza mer- chandise will be donated to NBCF.

The Dr .Martin Luther King Parade Foundation, Inc. an- nounces its Inaugural Fundraising Gala and Dinner to be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 at TPepin Hospitality Center, 4121 N. 50th St, Tampa, 33610. The Dr. Mar- tin Luther King Parade Foun- dation was formed for the purposes of expanding, im- proving and strengthening ef- forts to make the City of Tampa’s Martin Luther King Day Parade an event the city could be proud of year after year.
This year, under the direc- tion of President, Robert Scott, Jr. and Vice President, Howard A. Harris, the Foundation launches the “MLK Year of Service,” and the “Give 28 to Educate” cam- paigns to further its mission of seeing the parade have last- ing positive community im- pact, beyond the day of the event.
Both these campaigns will be introduced and celebrated at the Foundation’s Inaugural Fundraising Gala & Dinner. Chairing this stellar evening of elegance, a community and corporate event, is Mrs. Sherryl J. Cusseaux, and
Mrs. Jean Collins, Co- Chair. This dynamic duo will be joined by Honorary Chair, Mr. Ed Narain, Esq., State Representative, and eleven other hard-working commu- nity supporters.
According to Scott, Jr., “More than just promoting an event, the Parade Foundation strives to continue the vision and legacy of Dr. King by helping raise awareness in areas of social justice, eco- nomic disparity, diversity in- clusion, and racial tolerance, as well as, be counted as a strong supporter of education through engaging students and providing scholarship funding. Our partnerships with the City of Tampa, Hills- borough County, local busi- ness and community organizations not only help us grow and improve the parade, but expand its reach to im- prove the community it serves.”
The MLK Year of Service Program will take advantage of well established relation- ships with businesses, com- munity groups and schools from around the bay area to implement year round service projects, building on the “Day
of Service” theme that so many participate in on Dr. King’s birthday.
The “Give 28 to Educate” program will result in scholar- ship funds being awarded to 28 deserving high school stu- dents in commemoration of the parade’s 28th year of oper- ation. Funds can be donated via the Parade Foundation website or by visiting the Go- FundMe page directly at www.gofundme.com/mlk- give28-2educate .
