Jay Z Creating Docuseries Based On Trayvon Martin
Chief Keef Has 2 Platinum Records Now
Chief Keef was 16 when he dropped his 2 now platinum records.
2012 was a great year for Chief Keef. At age 16 at the time, Keef dropped two big hits — “I Don’t Like” and “Love Sosa” — tracks that finally went platinum last week.
In order to reach that RIAA certification, a record has to move 1,000,000 copies to go platinum, and on March 22 of 2017, Keef finally crossed the line with “Love Sosa” and did so a few days earlier for “I Don’t Like.”
Young Chop, who pro- duced both tracks, celebrated the recognition for “Love Sosa” on Instagram.
The good news comes after a spate of bad news for the now 21-year-old Chicago rap- per who was dropped by his record label Interscope, before a subsequent deal with Fil- mOn also fell apart after Keef allegedly embarked on an un- sanctioned tour.
The hard times haven’t just been confined to Keef’s music either, he was evicted from his home in and also had his fair share of legal troubles, having been in and out of jail on sev- eral charges relating to weapons and drugs.
However, Chief Keef’s platinum certifications come at a time when the world needs to be reminded of his talent and his youth. He’s stay- ing in the game with the re- lease of his Two Zero One Seven mixtape at the top of the year and is one of the many artists to be featured on Mike WiLL Made-It’s Ransom 2 that came out (March 24).
Future Says He Doesn’t Need A Grammy
Future put out back-to-back #1 Albums.
Jay Z is continuing to bring to life the tragic deaths of young Black males. His next project will be based on Florida native Trayvon Martin.
Jay Z” Carter is contin- uing to make moves in the film/television industry.
The Hip Hop mogul re- cently signed on as a pro- ducer for the The Kalief Browder Story TV series and for the upcoming In the Heights movie.
Jay is also taking part in the creation of two projects related to the story of Trayvon Martin.
According to The Holly- wood Reporter, the Roc Na- tion boss and The Weinstein Company have acquired the rights to Suspicion Nation: The Inside Story of the Trayvon Martin Injustice and Why We Continue to Re- peat It and Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin.
The books will be used to create a docuseries and a fea- ture film about the events surrounding Martin’s death at the hands of neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in 2012.
Hip Hop heads may have been bumping Future for a few years now, but the mainstream media is just now catching on to the Freebandz leader’s wave. Perhaps making history with the first back-to-back #1 albums ever helped him land a Billboard cover story.
In the feature, the Atlanta star shares his journey from the Dun-
geon Family days to touring with Drake, selling out arenas across the country, and his lack of need for a Grammy.
“The Grammys, they get what they get — the stuff that they don’t, it’s the stuff that they maybe don’t want to under- stand,” he says. “They’re not going to keep me from doing what I’m supposed to do as an artist.”

Zimmerman was acquit- ted of second-degree murder a year later.
The incident and the mur- der trial became a national news story which led to the formation of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Jay Z’s partnership with Hollywood heavyweight Harvey Weinstein and his company was announced in 2016.
Nia Long Says There’s ‘No Beef’ With Taraji Henson
Nia Long’s rep claims there is no beef with Taraji Henson while on ‘Empire’ set.
Keisha Cole And Estranged
Nia Long’s representative is dismissing reports suggest- ing the actress has been feud- ing with Taraji P. Henson on the set of Empire.
The “Boyz n the Hood” star booked a recurring guest role on the hit show’s third season, in which she plays a rival to Henson’s character Cookie Lyon.
According to reports, the actresses did not get along and would not speak to each other while they were working.
Henson was reportedly upset with Long’s behavior on set and the way she treated
crew members in the hair and makeup department, who re- portedly filed an official com- plaint against Nia.
However, Long’s repre- sentative insists there were no issues on set.
“We stand by our com- ments... that Nia has always, and continues to be, a consum- mate professional on set,” the representative told TMZ.com. “In respect to her working re- lationships with the cast, she came onto this project, in the first place, because of her long- standing friendship and pro- fessional relationship with Terrence Howard.”
