Crime
A 50-year-old woman has entered a guilty plea in a murder-for-hire plot. She was arrested last year. She faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison.
According to court docu- ments, on June 24, 2021, Ms. DeAnna Marie Stin- son created an account on a dark web website (“The Web- site”) that reportedly pro- vided murder-for-hire services to its customers. The following day, Ms. Stinson submitted an “order” re- questing that a hitman be as- signed to complete a “quick hit in southern Florida” to kill the spouse of her former sig- nificant other. In the order, Ms. Stinson provided the victim’s name, address, and a photograph of the victim.
Between June and July 2021, Ms. Stinson sent four additional orders and more than $12,000 in Bitcoin to effectuate the hit. During this time, Ms. Stinson re-

peatedly messaged adminis- trators of The Website and purported hitmen requesting that the “job” be completed as soon as possible and even offered a “bonus” if the hit was completed by a specific date.
When Ms. Stinson had not received a status update from the administrators of The Website, on July 31, 2021, she requested that the administrators “reassign the
job to someone who has a history of getting jobs done” because she “need[ed] th[e] job done ASAP.”
Law enforcement agents received information regard- ing her criminal activity and obtained records from her virtual currency exchange ac- count. The records showed that Ms. Stinson had paid Bitcoin to The Website. An agent contacted Ms. Stin- son while acting in an under- cover capacity as a hitman for The Website.
In a recorded phone call, Ms. Stinson confirmed that she wanted the victim killed and agreed to send additional money to the undercover agent via Bitcoin so that the transaction could not be traced.
On September 13, 2021, Ms. Stinson sent $350 in Bitcoin to the undercover agent so that the agent could purchase a revolver to com- mit the murder.
Police are investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a 29-year-old man. The shooting took place last Thursday (January 20th) around 3 p. m.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the com- munications center received several calls about shots
being fired in the area. When officers arrived in the 6100 block of N. Nebraska Av- enue, they discovered the man was suffering from a gunshot injury. He died at the scene.
Police have not released any additional information. The investigation continues.
