Wrong-Way Driver Sets Car On Fire After Being Stopped
I-275 Betwen Fowler and Fletcher
2nd Man Arrested In Murder Of College Athlete
         An unidentified woman was taken into custody under the Baker Act last Thursday.
The woman was driving the wrong way on I-75 when observed by Hillsborough County deputies.
The deputies conducted a traffic stop on I-75 between E. Fowler Avenue and E.
Fletcher Avenue. At that point, the woman then set her car on fire. Deputies also determined that she was armed with a knife.
The fire was extinguished and deputies realized that she was suffering from a mental crisis. She was taken into custody under the Baker Act.
DYLAN JENKINS
The second man wanted in connection with the shoot- ing death of an up-and-com- ing college athlete. He was taken into custody last Thursday by the U. S. Mar- shals in Utica, New York.
According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, Nyquan Priester, of Bradenton, was taken into custody last Thursday. Kalvion Turner, 20, sur- rendered to police.
Dylan Jenkins was fa- tally injured on December 29th while at a social gather- ing.

According to police, 18- year-old Jenkins was home for Christmas break from Madonna University in Michigan, and attended a gathering at Ackerman Park, in Sarasota County. At some point during the event, a fight broke out and gunshots were fired. Jenkins was struck and died as a result of his in- juries. Police said he was not involved in the altercation that led to the shooting.

graduate just finished his first college semester and was home for Christmas break.
After graduating from Riverview High School, he continued his education and athletic pursuit at Madonna University, where he was a standout in the classroom, on the football field, and in Track & Field. He earned a 3.0 grade point average his first semester at the school.
The Sarasota Sheriff’s Of- fice says detectives have in- terviewed several witnesses and continue to follow up on tips.

High Speed Chase Lands Man In Jail

A 27-year-old man was taken into custody after lead- ing several law enforcement agencies on a dangerous pur- suit through two counties putting innocent motorists at risk.
On January 19, 2022, a Hillsborough County Sher- iff’s Office Detective and fed- eral agents with The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) were conducting sur- veillance on Francisco Cabrera after they believed he was connected to several robberies and armed carjack- ings in Brandon and Plant City.
Around 11:30 a. m., Cabrera was spotted at the Wendy’s, 1601 West Baker Road, in Plant City, but he eluded law enforcement when they tried to take him into custody. Cabrera then led law enforcement on a ve- hicle pursuit eastbound on I- 4. He shot at law enforcement several times during the pursuit.

After being shot, Cabr- era continued to be combat- ive as law enforcement attempted to remove him from his vehicle to arrest him and render aid. Law enforce- ment officers were forced to tase Cabrera in order to take him into custody. Law enforcement and paramedics performed life-saving efforts on scene prior to Cabrera being transported to a local hospital. Cabrera is cur- rently in stable condition.
Cabrera has a lengthy criminal history in Hillsbor- ough County, including eight felony charges, two felony convictions, and seven misdemeanor charges, which include multiple drug charges, violation of parole, and domestic violence ar- rests.
Cabrera will be booked into the Polk County Jail. Charges stemming from the incident will come from the Lakeland Police Department.
 Hands Charged
With Murder
Police are investigating the death of a 64-year-old man whose body was discov- ered in an apartment at 15149 Avalon Avenue. De- tectives responded to the lo- cation in reference to a domestic dispute on January 20th, shortly after 10 a. m.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, when deputies arrived at the resi- dence, they observed 31- year-old Robert Warren in the driveway with blood on his hands.
Deputies took Warren into custody and upon enter- ing the residence, they dis- covered Jerry Lebreux dead. He suffered upper body trauma, police said.
Detectives said Warren and Lebreux were the only

occupants at the residence during the incident.
Warren was charged with second-degree murder. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
Police have not released any additional information. The investigation continues.

HCSO, Lakeland Police and ATF were able to stop Cabrera’s vehicle on the 3000 block of New Tampa Highway when a Lakeland Police officer successfully performed a pit maneuver.
