1 Jailed, 1 Sought In Mall Shooting Involving Undercover Officer
Two Men Injured By Gunfire Outside

Police are continuing their investigation a shooting that involved undercover deputies outside the Westfield Bran- don Mall on Monday.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, on January 24, 2022, an un- dercover detective had made arrangements to purchase guns from two people. They met at a pre-determined loca- tion outside the Westfield Brandon Mall around 4 p.m.
As the transaction was taking place inside the detec- tive’s vehicle, the suspects at- tempted to rob the detective at gunpoint, causing a Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice apprehension team, which is comprised of other undercover deputies, to immediately move in towards the vehicle for the safety of the detective.

The suspect in custody is 19-year-old Jordan Gracia. Gracia is facing a charge of armed robbery, felon in pos- session of a firearm, and dealing in stolen property. Additional charges are pend- ing.
The second suspect has been identified as Jaycob Riley, who is also 19-years- old. He is facing charges of armed robbery, 5 counts of attempted murder on a law enforcement officer, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The investigation remains active.
The shooting took place outside Club Eden early Monday. Both victims are expected to recover from their injuries.
The suspects began to flee the area, and at least one of the suspects fired several shots toward the deputies as they ran away. The deputies did not return fire. No deputies or civilians were struck or suffered injuries.
Detectives were able to take one of the suspects into custody. The other suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. The
Two men were injured by gunfire early Monday while at a nightclub. The shooting took place at Club Eden, 912 N. Franklin Street, in down- town Tampa, shortly after 1 a. m.
According to the Tampa Police Department, when of- ficers arrived at the scene, both victims were outside on the sidewalk. The officers ad- ministered first aid and both
were transported to Tampa General Hospital, in stable condition.
This incident is contained to the parties that were in- volved in the altercation at the club.
Police said a gun was also located at the scene. Police have not released any addi- tional information about the shooting. The investigation is continuing.

Man Sought In Deadly Hit And Run Arrested
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deputy-involved shooting that left one man dead. The fatal shooting took place Sun- day in unincorporated Dav- enport.
According to police, around 3 p. m. deputies re- sponded to Oakcrest Court in the Providence subdivision after they received a 9-1-1 call from an elderly woman who reported her adult son was trying to smother her.
She said she woke up to the suspect repeatedly press- ing a pillow on her face when she was napping on the couch. She was able to escape from the house and called from a safe location.
When deputies arrived on-scene, the suspect had barricaded himself in an upstairs bathroom. The three deputies ordered him to come out with his hands up, but he refused.
The deputies entered the bathroom and he immediately charged at them with a large knife, stabbing one deputy on the top of his head. That deputy de- ployed his Taser, but it was ineffective, and the suspect continued to fight with the deputies while armed with the knife.
In fear for their lives, they
were forced to shoot the sus- pect. He died at the scene. No other deputies were injured.
The deputy who was stabbed in the head was transported to a local hospi- tal, where he received stitches. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Police have not released the identity of the suspect. However, they said the sus- pect was a registered felon and on probation. He has a criminal history out of Vir- ginia.
The investigation into the shooting is continuing.
A 39-year-old man was arrested Tuesday and charged with a fatal hit and run accident. The accident took place earlier this month.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, detectives, working in corroboration with the U. S. Marshals Task Force, have arrested Joseph Cantrell. Cantrell was charged leaving the scene of a crash with death.
Detectives were searching for the vehicle and its driver involved in a fatal hit and run in Dover.
According to police, on Friday, January 14, 2022, at approximately 8 a.m., a black Ford Mustang convertible struck a pedestrian on Gal- lagher Road and fled south- bound towards Lewis Raulerson Road.
The pedestrian was trans- ported to a local hospital and died as a result of his injuries.
