Pelicans Acquire Derrick Favors In Trade With Jazz
DERRICK FAVORS
The New Orleans Pelicans are adding veteran big man Derrick Favors to provide depth in their front court.
The Pelicans agreed to a two-year deal with J.J. Redick on the first day of the NBA’s free agency period. Later that evening they added Favors in a trade with the Utah Jazz.
Patrick Beverley Returns To Clippers On $40M Deal

Patrick Beverley is re- turning to the LA Clippers on a 3-year, $40M deal. Bever- ley seemed grateful and elated to receive the deal.
76ers Trade Jimmy Butler To Heat, Sign Al Horford

The 76ers agreed to a sign- and-trade with the Miami Heat involving Jimmy Butler.
They signed Butler to a four-year, $142M deal and traded him to the Heat. The most prominent player they’re getting back in Josh Richardson. They will likely be taking back additional play- ers to make the salaries match.
On top of the Butler acqui- sition, the 76ers are signing Al Horford to a four-year $109 million deal. The deal contains $97M guaranteed with addi- tional bonuses tied to champi- onships.

The Indiana Pacers pulled off a huge trade and are ac- quiring restricted free agent Malcolm Brogdon from the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Pacers are trading a first round and two future second-round picks to the Bucks for Brogdon.
Brogdon and the Pacers have agreed to a four-year, $85 million deal as well.

The Phoenix Suns entered the offseason in desperate need of a point guard, and they wasted no time finding one when they signed Ricky Rubio to a contract at the the start of free agency.
Rubio will sign a three- year, $51 million deal with the Suns.

No. 23 On The Lakers

When LeBron James made his move from Cleve- land to Los Angeles, he didn’t have to give up the No. 23 like when he went to the Miami Heat in 2010.
James’ Lakers jersey flew off the shelves in L.A. and around the world, but next year, that will be an outdated jersey. There’s been a bunch of speculation about what number Anthony Davis would wear with the Lakers next year, since 23 was occu- pied by James, but it turns out LeBron will be the one making a switch.
On the same day it was an- nounced Davis is foregoing his $4 million trade kicker to open up max space for the Lakers this summer in free agency, LeBron is gifting the No. 23 to his new teammate and Space Jam 2 co-star.

It’s a nice gesture from James, who is going out of his way to make sure Davis feels welcome and at home in L.A. so that he stays long term.
