Trayvon Martin’s Parents Say Weinstein Company Owes Them $150,000
Debra Lee Steps Down From Top Spot At BET
Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, the parents of mur- dered teen Trayvon Martin, have accused The Weinstein Company of withholding at least $150,000 for optioning the rights to their book, Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin.
The company was supposed to be behind a television series based on the book and Mar- tin's life, but the series has yet to be aired.
According to the Associated Press, Fulton and Martin filed court papers in federal bankruptcy court in Delaware, alleging in their court filing that the series has been filmed and they are owed money for "exec- utive producer services."
The court filing also states that if the series airs, Fulton and Martin are owed further money.
According to Deadline, bank- ruptcy court has ruled in favor of the sale of the company to Dallas private equity firm Lantern Capital.
After a 30-year career at BET, Debra Lee is stepping down from her position as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BET Networks, effec- tive Monday, May 28, 2018.
Lee, who began her career with the company as its first VP and General Counsel in 1986, was elevated to President and COO in 1996 and became Chairman and CEO in 2005.
Lee’s exit is not completely surprising. Viacom the owner of BET, laid the groundwork for the move in December when Scott M. Mills was

“There is a formal complaint on file for aggravated harass- ment and detectives are inves- tigating,” the NYPD said in a statement. In a since-deleted post, Fif reportedly posted a picture on Instagram, using the capiton “get the strap” – a phrase often referring to getting a gun. Although the rapper fre- quently used the phrase on his social media accounts, he re- portedly used the term in refer- ence to NYPD Deputy Inspector and head of the 72nd Precinct
