Derek Jeter May Have Street Outside Yankee Stadium Named In His Honor
DEREK JETER
Two Bronx councilwomen have introduced legislation to rename part of 161st Street as "Jeter Street," according to AM New York Metro. The an- nouncement comes just days before the BBWAA discloses the results of its 2020 Hall of Fame balloting on Jan. 21. Yan- kees legend Derek Jeter, on the ballot for the first time, will be voted into the Hall and could even do so with 100 per- cent of the vote.
It appears Jeter will also be honored 180 miles south- east of Cooperstown this year. Running along on the south side of Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, 161st Street actually in- tersects with "Rivera Avenue," named after another familiar Yankee Hall of Fame legend, Mariano Rivera.
"We want Jeter to cele- brate the honor here in The Bronx, where he spent his en- tire playing career," 161st Street Business Improvement District Director Cary Good- man said.

LeBron James main- tained his hold on the top spot in the third and final round of public voting results for the 2020 NBA All-Star Game, the league announced Thursday afternoon.

Wrestling legend Rocky Johnson, father to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has passed away at age 75. WWE announced the news John- son's death in a statement on Wednesday.
"WWE is saddened to learn that Rocky “Soul Man” Johnson (born Wayde Douglas Bowles), a WWE Hall of Famer, former World Tag Team Champion, and father of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, has passed away at age 75," the WWE statement reads, also adding, "WWE extends its condo- lences to Johnson’s family, friends and fans."
The WWE recognized Johnson, known to his fans as “The Soul Man Rocky Johnson,” as a Hall of Famer in 2008. He was renowned as a tag team specialist and made history with his partner Tony Atlas, together known as the tag team Soul Patrol, when they became the first-ever black tag team to win the WWF Tag Team titles.
Johnson began his wrestling career in 1964 as part of the National Wrestling Alliance, joined the WWF (now WWE) in 1982, and re- tired in 1991. After retiring, he trained his son Dwayne to be

a wrestler. Dwayne’s wrestling name was originally “Rocky Mavia,” which was a combination of his father’s name (Rocky Johnson) and his grandfather’s name (Peter Maivia). Eventually he changed it to “The Rock,” a name that now endures as a tribute to his family’s wrestling heritage.
Many in the wrestling community have taken to so- cial media to express their condolences and remember Johnson as a wrestling icon.
“I am so sorry to hear of the passing of the great Rocky Johnson. Always a gentleman, I always enjoyed talking with him. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the fans who loved him. A very sad day for wrestling,” tweeted Mick Foley.

Kyrie Irving Already Seems To Have Issues With Nets’ Roster
The Brooklyn Nets have not been enjoying the type of season they were hoping for. Kevin Durant is not playing this season due to his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon. And Kyrie Irving just re- turned to action on Sunday after missing two months with a shoulder injury.
The Nets are 18-22 on the season and barely in the eighth spot in the East. They lost to the Philadelphia 76ers 117-106 on Wednesday night, and the loss had Irving being blunt about the improvements the

Nets’ roster needs.
Irving continues to show,
just like he did all season with Boston last year, what an im- peccable leader he is.
Hawks Acquire Jeff Teague,
Treveon Graham From
Timberwolves For Allen Crabbe
The Atlanta Hawks have acquired point guard Jeff Teague in a three-player trade with the Minnesota Tim- berwolves.
Minnesota also is sending guard Treveon Graham to Atlanta in a deal that returns guard Allen Crabbe to the Timberwolves.
The Hawks have been scouring the marketplace for a backup point guard to ease the burden of Trae Young. The Hawks have an offensive rat- ing of 108.2 with Young on the floor, and 90.7 off it. Min- nesota creates an open roster spot that could be useful in

bigger trades before the Feb. 6 deadline.
Teague and Crabbe are on expiring contracts. Teague, 31, played the first seven years of his career with Atlanta.
