Street In Detroit Named After Stevie Wonder

Young Jeezy celebrated the holiday season with his “extended family” last week in Atlanta, when his Street Dreamz Foundation hosted a gala event for kids in the fos- ter care system.
Jeezy gathered hundreds of kids at Slingshot Enter- tainment, where the kids ate food and drove race cars at the entertainment compound with the rap star and other volunteers.
“Giving back is the most important aspect of my life,” Young Jeezy said. “It’s im- portant to me that the less
fortunate get opportunities to enjoy family time during hol- iday season. Some of these children don’t have biological families in their lives, so I de- cided long ago that I would open my arms and welcome them into my family, the Street Dreamz Foundation family.”
The rapper also handed out a gift card to each child for Foot Locker and Forever 21. The entire event was put on by Jeezy’s Street Dreamz Foundation and the National Lighthouse Foundation.

It’s a Christmas miracle, sort of. Run The Jewels (the Marvel-worthy team up of El- P and Killer Mike) just dropped their third proper project, RTJ3.
As for the album. which originally was scheduled to drop on Jan. 20, there are 14 chunky cuts with some help from the likes of BOOTS and Danny Brown.
Martin Shkreli Claims He Bought Lil Wayne’s ‘Carter V’ Album
MARTIN SHKRELI
“Pharma dude” Martin Shkreli appears to have bought another coveted Hip- Hop album. The millionaire claims to own Lil’ Wayne’s phantom Carter V album.
Shkreli made the claim on Periscope earlier today. To prove the authenticity of his boasts, he played some snip- pets from the album.
Shkreli, who is infamous for paying the million-dollar price tag for the Wu-Tang Clan’s Once Upon A Time In Shaolin album, did not say how much he paid for the album. He also stressed that he doesn’t plan on releasing it to the public fearing that Birdman may “kill him.”
Shkreli may have hinted at this purchase last week on Twitter during an exchange with Lil B. B curved him when he offered to buy his unreleased Black Ken mixtape, but he re- sponded saying he planned on buying something bigger. He then returned to Twitter to hype it up.
The songs he played haven’t been verified. At the rate in which Wayne records music, it’s impossible to tell when these songs were made.
Detroit has honored one of their biggest stars.
Legendary musician Stevie Wonder attended a cere- mony last Wednesday (Dec. 21) to honor him with a street name in the city. Hundreds of people came out to witness the reveal of “Stevie Wonder Ave.” formerly known as Mil- waukee Avenue. The site is just two blocks away from Wonder’s first Detroit home he moved to as a child.
Detroit Mayor Mike Dug- gan gave Wonder the key to
the city, and U.S. Rep. John Conyers was also in atten- dance. According to the De- troit Free Press, Wonder’s speech focused on “delivering familiar messages of peace and unity,” and he declared his affection for Detroit, even breaking into an impromptu rendition of “You Are the Sunshine of My Life.”
Born in Saginaw, MI., Wonder was signed to the famed Detroit-based record label Motown at a young age as a musical prodigy.

Kelly Rowland, Keri Hilson And Meagan Good Star In Lifetime Movie In January

Portrays God In New Movie
Octavia Spencer plays ‘Papa’ in the movie ‘The Shack’.
On January 28, 2017, R&B beauty will take over the small screen. Our genre’s own Keri Hilson and Kelly Rowland, along with ac- tresses Meagan Good and Kellee Stewart will star in the upcoming Lifetime film, ‘Love By The 10th Date.’
According to Lifetime: ‘Love By The 10th Date’ fol- lows Gabby (Good), Nell (Stewart), Billie (Hilson) and Margot (Rowland)
who balance their dating ad- ventures alongside their ca- reer ambitions at an upscale digital magazine in Los Ange- les.
Cat Deeley, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and Brandon T. Jackson also stars in the two-hour roman- tic comedy, written and di- rected by Nzingha Stewart (With This Ring, UnREAL, The Catch).
In the coming film adapta- tion of “The Shack,” a fic- tional book by William P. Young about a father’s path to renewed faith and healing after his young daughter’s murder, the character of God — as depicted in the novel — is portrayed as a curvy, ma- ternal black woman.
And just as the book earned widespread notoriety and scathing critiques nearly a decade ago, the film is gar- nering its own praise and condemnation.
At issue is Young’s char- acterization of the Holy Trin- ity, seen through the eyes of the story’s main character.
He goes, reluctant and angry, unsure if he’ll be met by his daughter’s murderer.
Instead, he finds this: a Middle Eastern, Jewish car- penter named Jesus; the Holy Spirit embodied in a wispy
Asian woman who loves to garden and God (played by “The Help” star Octavia Spencer) as the very oppo- site of the Gandalf-like grandpa figure modern soci- ety is used to seeing.
“Young’s pretentious car- icature of God as a heavy set, cushy, nonjudgmental, African American woman called ‘Papa’ (who resembles the New Agey Oprah Win- frey far more than the one true God revealed through the Lord Jesus Christ — He- brews 1:1-3), and his depic- tion of the Holy Spirit as a frail Asian woman with the Hindu name, Sarayu, lends itself to a dangerous and false image of God and idolatry,” Joe Schimmel, a white Cal- ifornia pastor and host of the documentary “Hollywood’s War on God,” told Christian News Network this week.
