Jimmy Garoppolo Discusses His Lack Of Passing Attempts In The Playoffs
JIMMY GAROPPOLO
Much has been made about the number of attempts Jimmy Garoppolo has dur- ing the playoffs. The talk has been centered around why the San Francisco 49ers are “doomed” if they have to throw it against the Kansas City Chiefs, as if Jimmy G hasn’t shown he can win games with his arm, or Kyle Shanahan isn’t his play- caller. My train of thought is it’s encouraging when you can win without having to throw. That is not a bad thing by any stretch of the imagination. Garoppolo was asked that, and a few other questions.
What do you need to do get more passing at- tempts?
“Got to talk to [head coach] Kyle [Shanahan] or something. I mean, we were running the hell out of the ball tonight. It made my life very easy back there. I think we had, like, eight pass attempts. A fun night.”
Talk about the offen- sive line, how they per- formed today?
“I thought they came out from the first snap ready to roll. They made a couple of ankle tackles early. You saw the way the game was playing out, and [RB] Raheem [Mostert] just took off tonight.”
Could you tell early on you guys were going to have that type of success on the ground?
“You always think that way and you try to plan that way, but you kind of feel the game out as it goes. I thought Kyle did a good job calling the game and I thought the guys did a great job executing.”
Partners With Lyft
To Bring Bike Access
To Youth In Need
Lyft has partnered with the YMCA, LeBron James, and his organization,Unin- terrupted, to create a pro- gram called LyftUp, dedicated to meeting the transportation needs of youth. LyftUp is looking to distribute “thousands” of free, one-year bikeshare memberships to eligible youth, ages 16 to 20, starting this spring in New York City with CitiBike, and then in Chicago with Divvy and the Bay Area with Bay Wheels.
Through the help of the YMCA, the LyftUp program will identify eligible youth to receive memberships and ed- ucation on bike safety. The program’s goal is to improve transportation access for youth, which in turn could lead to better opportunities.
”The announcement came on January 21, as the program was unveiled at a YMCA in Harlem in front of a group of 50 or so local teenagers, who were the first to receive free memberships. James made a surprise ap- pearance and talked about

his love of bikes and how a bike can change a kid’s life for the better.
“Growing up, a bike changed everything for me. Itwasmorethanawaytogo see my friends or play bas- ketball—it was a way of life,” James said, in Lyft’s an- nouncement.
“A bike opened doors, al- lowed me to get to safe places after school, and gave me ac- cess to opportunities I never would have known.”

Antonio Brown Has Warrant Issued For His Arrest Over Alleged Battery
A warrant officially has been issued for Antonio Brown’s arrest.
The Hollywood Police De- partment in Florida on Wednesday issued a warrant for Brown’s arrest for bur- glary with battery. There is re- portedly no bond.
Police were called to Brown’s Hollywood home on Tuesday over an alleged battery complaint. Brown and his trainer allegedly battered a moving truck driver. The trainer, Glenn Holt, was taken into custody following the incident and charged with burglary with battery. Brown was not cooperating with po- lice as of earlier Wednesday, leading to the arrest warrant being issued.
The moving truck was de- livering furniture from Cali- fornia to Brown’s home in Florida. The driver demanded a $4,000 payment upon ar- rival but Brown would not pay, leading the driver to

drive away with the furni- ture.
Brown al- legedly threw a rock at the truck, causing damage. The driver re- turned after
being told to by the moving company. The company al- legedly spoke with Brown, who agreed to pay the $4,000 fee plus an additional $860 for damages and lost work time. Brown only paid $4,000 when the driver showed up, leading to another argument and to the driver al- legedly being assaulted by Brown and Holt. Brown and his associates allegedly began taking the furniture off the truck, even taking some belonging to another client and then damaging it by throwing it back on the truck after being informed it did not belong to them.
