Drew-Z Movie Reviews
King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword - After seeing his parents murder when he was a child, Arthur (Charles Hunnam- Sons Of Anarchy) comes up the hard way and is forced to acknowledge his true legacy from the King (Jude Law(. Can’t figure why the critics gave this film bad reviews. Having seeing a bad movie from Di- rector Guy Ritchie ( Sherlock Holmes 1 and 2, Rock N Rolla). Really enjoyed this sci-fi action adventure. Made 18M (U.S/ foreign- $35M)- ****
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2. - Director James Gunn (Guardian Galaxy Vol. 1) has done it again with this second Marvel sci-fi action adventure. Mixing soft rock, p-funk music with the special effects make this movie truly amazing. The Guardians team (Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Tampan Dave Bautista, Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper, Baby Groot-voiced by Vin Diesel and Michael Rooker) set out on new adventures to unravel the mystery of Peter Quill's(Pratt) parents. I must say this film was better than the first. The action, special effects, comedy and drama at the end makes this film worth seeing for 2hrs/ 15mins. No.1 at box office-$248M U.S./ foreign- $383M (budget- $200M)- five stars (classic)
Sleigh - A teen street magician named Bo (Jacob Latimore) is left to care for his sister after his parents pass- ing, which led him to do anything such as selling drugs to provide. He soon wants out, but the drug kingpin (Dule Hill) refuses, so Bo turns to his girlfriend Holly (Seychelle Gabriel) and his magic to save them. The real hero is Bo hustling to provide for his sister. Made $3M (budget- $25,000)- ***1/2
The Fate Of The Furious - Director F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Of Compton, Friday) directs this block- buster franchise about a mysterious woman named Cipher (Charlize Theron) who forces Dom (Vin Diesel) to be- tray his crew ( Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriquez, Dwayne Johnson, Ludacris, Jason Statham, Natalie Emmanuel and Luke Evans. The crew must decide to bring Dom down before Cipher sets off a nuclear bomb. Director F. Gary Gray blended non-stop action, comedy and a nice twist at the end that makes this film very good. Must see for action fans. Still #1 at box office-$215M U.S./ foreign-$980M- (budget- $250M)- ****
The Boss Baby - A new baby’s arrival to the family makes a serious impact on 7 year-old Tim (voiced by Miles Bakshi). The suit wearing Boss baby (voiced by Alec Baldwin) grudgingly pairs up with Tim to stop the evil plot of the CEO of Puppy Co. Kids and adults will enjoy this funny animation by Dreamworks. Made $162M U.S./ foreign- 293M- (budget-$125M)- ****
Beauty And The Beast (2017) - Disney and director Bill Condon revisit the Disney animated classic about a monstrous-looking prince (Dan Stevens) and a young woman (Emma Watson) who fall in love. Kids and adults will enjoy this film. Made -$494M -U.S./ $713M- foreign-(budget- $160M)- ****
Kong-Skull Island - A team of scientists (John Goodman, Corey Hawkins-played Dr.Dre/ 24 Legacy) and a military team ( Samuel Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Jason Mitchell-played Eazy E) explore an un- charted island where King Kong lives. The team must soon fight Kong and other creatures to get off the island. Enjoyed this outrageous Kong story which featured a good number of Black actors. How many will get off the island? Made -$166M U.S./ foreign- $398M (budget $185M )- ****
