Retirements
Believe it or not, Gerry Murphy has actually
retired! He officially retired on 19th April
2024.
Gerry had a long and very successful career
in Ei. He joined the GE owned Company way
back in Sept 1972 as a QA Inspector. Through
performance and commitment, Gerry worked
his way through the ranks, with spells in
Incoming Inspection, Production Supervision
and Purchasing.
He was one of the people who joined Ei
Electronics on its first day, 2nd March 1988.
He was appointed Buyer in March 1987 and
Materials (now Supply Chain) Manager in
March 1990.
Gerry and his family have a long association
with Ei -he met his wife Bernie here and his
son Alan works here.
An “out and out” Ei man, Gerry has made a
tremendous contribution to the Company in his
50+ years of service. He was always the ‘Go to’
guy if you wanted anything done! He always
wore the Ei jersey with pride! He is of course,
one of the ‘Team of 8’ who have served 50 years.
In recent years, since passing the official
Retirement date, Gerry has been the
Community CSR Ambassador and has done a
tremendous job in promoting the Company in
the wider community.
While wishing Gerry a long, happy
and healthy retirement, Mick Guinee
acknowledged the fact that Gerry would
continue to spend a day or two per week in
a CSR (Community Social Responsibility)
role!
