Mike Flynn or ‘Flucka’ retired on 29th March
2024.
Like several others, Mike had a long and extended
career at Ei. He joined the original GE Company
way back in Oct 1965 and except for a brief spell
selling Insurance, Mike served a total of 58 years
between the 2 companies, staying on for 11 years
past his official Retirement date!!
Like many of his generation, Mike joined EI as
an Operator and had the ‘smarts’ and diligence to
carve out a successful career in manufacturing, IT
and Purchasing. A great ‘all-rounder’, Mike could
turn his hand to anything and was known for his
efficiency and effectiveness.
Mike was known for his sense of humour and
‘one-liners’ - see ‘Flucka’s Phrase Book’.
Several of Mike’s family have worked at Ei –
currently his son Paul and daughter Fiona work
here and in the past, another daughter Niamh
worked here.
In his Retirement speech, Mick Guinee wished
Mike a long, happy and healthy retirement.
