Option D. Through a fixed curriculum the following Practical Workshops and Incubation Program the Community Engagement Program will be facilitated in each community and the customer property, to be attended by all aspiring, start-up and existing entrepreneurs in the local mining communities. These workshops have been developed to open the eyes of community members to possible opportunities missed in their daily lives. It also establishes a positive attitude and creates an entrepreneurial mindset.
The 1st workshop is delivered in a large group format to accommodate as many individuals as possible. In larger communities it might be necessary to deliver the curriculum of workshops more than once.
W/S 1 – “SHIFT” - Community and Youth Development Program
Full 1-day workshop for a large group of maximum 100 individuals in each identified community or area. The workshop is delivered by 2 highly experienced facilitators, a translator and assistant. The attendees will work through various individual and small team modules to identify their skill sets, hobbies, passion and experience. The workshop will open participants up to identify and explore new opportunities and possibilities, possibly overlooked and passed by in their daily lives. The workshop will also identify and explore any basic business models and ideas the participants might already have. The workshop content requires all participants to have some basic English literacy skills. However, there will be a translator and assistant present to assist individuals who might need assistant in this regard.
W/S 2 – “EXPLORE” - Program – Pre-Start-up Business idea or model development program.
After the completion of the “SHIFT” workshop, a panel will select a number of candidates (max 50 individuals) to complete the “EXPLORE” Program. During this full 1-day workshop all work completed during the “SHIFT” will be explored and elaborated on. Any possible ideas, skills, hobbies or experience highlighted in the “SHIFT” workshop will be explored further, and attendees will be guided on how to turn these into a basic business model for further development during the next workshop called “GROW” All attendees will complete a lot of work at home or in their private time in preparation for the “GROW” workshop.
W/S 3 – “GROW” – Program – Grow your business model into a formal and viable business through the process of Incubation.
The work completed during the previous workshops, as well as from the 2 weeks of private work done by the 25 attendees, will be discussed, modelled and re-evaluated to put a basic but viable business model on the table for mentorship. All attendees who have completed the 3-workshop process successfully will be excellent candidates to proceed further onto the “Practical Entrepreneurship Skills Workshop Program”, consisting of 8 business subjects.
Only once they have completed these workshops will they be eligible for the “Supplier Training and Entrepreneurial Program”.
