PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Human Resource Manager – Training
Michigan Dept. of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Lansing, MI | May 2016 - Present
• Manages a team of 16 Human Resource Developers to execute the design and delivery of training material across child welfare for the State of Michigan and private agencies.
• Oversees the creation of training calendars for Pre-Service Institute, Adult Services,
Juvenile Justice, and New Supervisor Institute (NSI).
• Collaborates cross-functionally with two managers to oversee a $9M annual
administrative budget to cover expenses such as travel, venue selection, vendor
contracts, salaries, and procurement of supplies.
• Analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) including training trends, requests, and
evaluations to modify and revamp curriculum as necessary.
• Serves as a key component in the candidate selection process to screen resumes; write
position descriptions; and interview, hire, train, and develop newly hired employees.
• Executes performance management by leading both one-on-one and team meetings to
assess and develop departmental priorities.
• Manages the Request for Quote (RFQ) process to execute vendor selection for the
procurement of additional training and support services while remaining within budget constraints.
Key Highlights & Accomplishments:
• Managed two trainers to execute the development and launch of training curriculum for the Michigan Adult Integrated Management Systems (MiAIMS); this resulted in successful completion of a curriculum within twelve months and the ability for adult workers to use a uniform, consolidated internal system.
• Served as Project Manager to implement the New Supervisor Institute (NSI) which provided additional training on leadership, communication, cultural awareness, one-on- one meetings, team building, and using data to drive management decisions; this was successfully launched in 2017 and has trained +/- 1,000 individuals.
• Led a team to develop the curriculum on Women in Leadership; as a result, this training is now offered statewide on a monthly basis and often waitlisted.
• Led the development of a cultural awareness training to identify unconscious bias which was eventually adopted by departments and agencies statewide.
• Develops and writes policies pertaining to the mandated/required new hire trainings for social service specialists across CPS, Juvenile Justice, Adoption, and Foster Care.
• Adapted quickly to the COVID-19 pandemic by working on a 100% remote basis while managing and supporting a team of 16 employees.
