Valentina Seeley is the Community Relations Officer at the Office of Partnership and Engagement – U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement. As a Cabinet Department of the U.S. Federal Government, the purpose of Homeland Security is to protect the USA from more terrorist attacks like 9/11 & to respond to natural disasters. Valentina will speak about her role at Immigration and Customs Enforcement
Tim Herman Forward Together
Tim Herman, CEO, Kristina Johnston, COO, and/or Tyler Rossmaessler, Director of Economic Development of the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce will talk about the economic vision called “Forward Together,” the unprecedented partnership established between Genesee County, the City of Flint, & the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce. In 2018 & throughout 2019, they worked together on an inclusive process to create a county-wide vision for economic vitality. This planning effort was designed to establish a common economic vision that will drive Genesee County, Michigan communities forward & will focus on promoting long-term change in such a way that existing institutions (government, civic groups, non-profits, etc.) can be more responsive to the community’s needs & aspirations. Now that the team enters into the execution phase of work, the inclusive process is transitioning from listening to acting & all are invited to participate.

Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha is a pediatrician, scientist, activist and author. She is nationally known for her role in uncovering the Flint Water Crisis and leading recovery efforts. Dr. Mona will talk about her powerful first- hand account of the Flint Water Crisis, the signature environmental disaster of our time, and a riveting narrative of personal advocacy. Hear the dramatic story of how Dr. Mona used science to prove Flint kids were exposed to lead, and how she courageously went public with her research and faced a brutal backlash. With persistence and single minded sense of mission, she spoke truth to power. In addition, she will update attendees on the progress the City of Flint is making with resolving the Flint Water Crisis and the current health status of residents affected by the lead water poisoning.
