PUBLIC SAFETY
Mike Odette started his role as our new Chief of the Department of Public Safety at a very interesting time for the College. His frst ofcial day was on March 18th, which coincided with the time in which Mott closed to the public. Prior to coming to Mott, Chief Odette worked for the Montrose Township PD, Flushing Town- ship PD, and fnally the City of Burton PD, where he had started as a Patrol Ofcer and ultimately served as their Chief of Police. Chief Odette was very familiar with Mott, as he had previously taught as an instructor for the Law Enforcement Regional Training Academy (LERTA). He has an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Mott and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from U of
M – Flint. He is very active within the local community and enjoys volunteering with youth sports, including coaching basketball, football, and soccer leagues.
Kimberly Urbina joined the Public Safety department just a few short weeks after Chief Odette. Kim is our newest Certifed/Sworn Ofcer. Another former Mott grad, Kimberly obtained 2 Associates degrees in Criminal Justice (one in Arts and one in Science) right here at Mott. She came to our Public Safety team with over 22 years’ experience as a sworn ofcer with the City of Flint, Flushing Township, and Clayton Township. During her time with the City of Flint, Ofcer Urbina was named Ofcer of the Month multiple times over.
STUDENT SUCCESS SERVICES
Dinah Schaller started in October, as Lead MSW. In her role, she
is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Lenore Croudy Family Life Center, providing social support programming, and helping to continue a College culture of care. With a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan, Dinah has extensive experience in the feld of Social Work within various School Systems. Her most recent position before Mott was as the Lead Social Worker for Early-On at Genesee Intermediate School District. In her free time, Dinah likes baking, photography, crafting, and volunteer work within her community.
WORKFORCE & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Angela Hood Bea gard is the Executive Director of the Flint & Genesee Literacy Network. Angela previously worked for Mott as a Curriculum Support Staf for the Academic Afairs Ofce, and Secretary and Clerical Aide for the Business Division. She has vast experience from a Contract Ofce Manager for Liberty Tax Services to Vice President of Community Development for Metro Community Development (to name a few). She has a Master’s in Accounting and Business Management from Northwood University, and is also a licensed, motorcycle-riding, Pastor!
