When Grace Met the Remnant:



               The Light of Jesus’   Birth Brings


                           Our Journey Full Circle

                                                                   For God so loved the world, that he gave his
                                                                  only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in
                                                                  him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
                                                                     For God sent not his Son into the world to
                                                                        condemn the world; but that the world
                                                                                through him might be saved.

                                                                                              ativity scenes are set up
                                                                                              in  front  of  houses  and
                                                                                              churches.  Colorful  gar-
                                                                                              lands,  stars  and  angels
                                                                                  decorate  mall  entrances.  Life-sized
                                                                                  spruce,  pine  or  fir  trees  become
                                                                                 downtown  centerpieces.  Choirs  se-
                                                                                lect hymns, traditional and contempo-
                                                                             rary,  for  holiday  services.  People  give
                                                                           each other the customary greetings, “Merry
                                                                       Christmas” or “Happy Holidays.”
                                                              As people migrate to the malls and grocery stores, they
                                                         pass by church marquees with seasonal messages: Unto Us a
                                                         Child Is Born or Jesus is the Reason for the Season.
                                                         Is He?  Is He still at the heart of Christmas?

                                                         Has He been reduced to vacation days of rest and relaxation,
                                                         family time, gift exchanges, and yearly check-ins for church
                                                         services and New Year’s Eve watch nights?

                                                         Has His birth lost its impact in the world or with believers?

                                                         Have we minimized His birth to a baby who drew shepherds
                                                                                           and  wise  men?  Have  we
                                                                                               forgotten  that  grace
                                                                                                 was  born  and  by  it,
                                                                                                 we      are     saved
                                                                                                (Ephesians 2:5)?
