We must never forget that the manifestation of
Jesus Christ destroyed the works of the devil.
The entrance of the living Word into earth
brought light into our spiritual darkness. Jesus’
birth turned the light on in our hearts so He
could expose and remove the dark sin that sepa-
rated us from God.
Paul writes, “And so all Israel shall be saved: as
it is written, There shall come out of Sion the
Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from
Jacob:For this is my covenant unto them, when I
shall take away their sins. (Romans 11:26-27)”
Whenever God’s people suffer from oppression
of any kind or His prodigal children have lost
their way; He sends a deliverer. God raises up
someone to lead us out of the wilderness.
Isn’t it amazing that we have a Heavenly Father
who chases after us?
Even when we desire to be in the world more
than in Him, God draws us back to Him.
Christmas isn’t just a Nativity story. It is about
how God wrapped Himself in flesh, emptied
Himself and became obedient unto death to de-
liver His children from sin and eternal death
(Philippians 2:6-9).
A deliverer is one who has a purpose inside of
him or her so great that it can save a people, but
it attracts the onset of spiritual warfare. That’s
why a birth of a deliverer should be honored be-
cause so many lives would have been lost if he
or she had never been born.
Jesus Christ’s birth cannot lose its impact and
place in our lives.
If we look at the state of our world, we know
that we need the Deliverer now more than ever.
The past issues of this magazine have dealt with
light and darkness. Each author brought a testi-
mony or perspective that exposed the darkness
and dispelled it with the light of His Word. For it
is by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our
testimony that we overcome the evil one
(Revelations12:11). When these writers wielded
God’s truth as a sword, the light of Jesus shone
through their words into the darkness of perver-

could not be extinguished (John1:5 NLT).
When we let Jesus shine through our light
(Matthew 5:14-16), our love (John 13: 35) and
our charge to be ministers of reconciliation (2
Corinthians 5:17-20) and preachers of the gospel
(Matthew 28:19-20), we lift up Jesus and draw
men to Him. When we tell someone how Jesus
changed our lives, it will draw a world crying
out from the void to the only One who can fill it.
Celebrating Christ’s birth shouldn’t be confined
to one holiday. It is by Him that we are born
again. Every day we should give thanks for Je-
sus’ birth and our own spiritual birthdays.
We are now deliverers commissioned and sent
out into the world to be fishers of men.
Our harvest is ripe, but we have lost sight of our
mission. There is a divine pattern in which our
journey toward receiving salvation (Romans
10:9) and working it out (Philippians 2:12)
should lead others to Christ so they may experi-
ence the same grace.
We are spiritual descendants of a remnant. Jesus
Christ was born into this world to carry out a di-
vine mission to reconcile that remnant by be-
coming our peace to make Jews (the remnant)
and the Gentiles (the world) one body unto God
by breaking down the wall between them
(Ephesians 2:14-16).
We have corrupted this pattern by extending
judgment instead of grace toward the world.
We have rebuilt the wall that Christ has de-
stroyed. We marginalize people who visit our
churches if they are dressed a certain way, have
tattoos on their bodies or share their circum-
stances. Old hurts, offenses and unforgiveness in
families cause confusion and division.
Our editor, Erica McGraw, said to me that we
are a congregation of churches who meet togeth-
er to get filled and refueled with the Word so we
can go back out into the field and yield a greater
harvest for the Lord. Our natural and spiritual
families need to see Jesus’ love through us. Yes,
each believer or family member has his or her
own personality traits that test us, and we proba-
bly have ones that irritate them. That is what
