16mm. Colour movie film of July 1962 Centenary Cadet Corps Parade on Parker’s Piece. Arrangements are in the early stages of preparation for there to be a showing of this movie film to all former Cadets plus other interested ex pupils of Derby School and naturally our Committee members. Details are almost finalised and hopefully it is to be held in the Lecture Room at The Grange, Masonic Hall, 457 Burton Road, Littleover, Derby DE23 6XX one evening later this Spring or early Summer.
First Reunion of The Class of 1966 This September 2016 the pupils who started at Derby School will be celebrating the 50 years Anniversary for when they started in the Second Form. The date as you will know is when the brand new purpose school was finally opened at Moorway Lane and remained there until local politics closed it down in 1989! So for the history of our School it is a most important land mark. To mark this occasion, their organiser a John Sallis (1960-1965) has booked the Nag’s Head at Mickleover on
Saturday evening 24 September. As Archivist I shall attend, in order to collect for our archives any previously unseen B&W photos of their past time’s. If the President and Chairman of the Society could also attend part of the evening I believe this will be most fitting?
Newly published book entitled “St. Helens House” Recently as Archivist I had a letter from Maxwell Craven asking for information about St. Helen’s House and within the letter he informed me that Smith Cooper, the current tenants of SHH had asked him to write an up to date book about their offices. He suggested I contact Paul Duffin, Senior Partner, at Smith Cooper and we are now in possession of this most up to date and informative book, which I intend to place in our archives. I shall display the book at this Committee.
