Ι Heard You…

the so-called
“good deeds”
Lord,
You know everything.
There is nothing I need to “inform” You about.
Yet, it comes to me spontaneously
to confess before You
that my most shameful sin
is that I inwardly boast
when I help those I see
as inferior to me,
when I add new “good deeds”
to the list of my … “virtues”!
And even more shameful is that,
when I became poor,
I hated those who came to help me.
This is not a prayer,
it is a disgrace!
But You know how to close Your eyes
to my nakedness.
