P. 66

Integrity is the character quality of being above reproach, true to your word, and not compromising your
principles even when you’re under fire.
When was the last time your integrity was put to the test, and what did you do?

Christians should be people marked by integrity, especially when we’re under fire. If we fail
when the pressure is on, it hurts our witness, and people begin to wonder what we truly stand
                          for.
What are some of the things that you struggle with when it comes to absolute integrity? How
do you keep yourself without spot or blame?

1 Timothy 6:17-21. 17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant
nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly
provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in
good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19 In this way, they will lay up treasure
for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life
                  that is truly life.
20 Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and
the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, 21 which some have professed and in so
doing have departed from the faith.
                  Grace be with you all.

Question: Is it possible to be both good and rich?
To be good and rich, we must aim to be rich toward God.

Luke 12:21. This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich
                  toward God.

The only way to be both good and rich is to strive to be rich toward God.

What does that mean to you – to be rich toward God, and how do we accomplish this?
How do we decide how much to give to the Lord’s work and how much to spend on ourselves?
How do we decide how much to save for future needs without hoarding?

How can we tell if our trust has shifted from God to riches?
