never found evidence in any writings of his existence.  So, if Pilate was not a ruler in Judea, perhaps he
               never encountered Jesus, who may not have ever existed.

               In June 1961, Italian archaeologists led by Dr. Frova were excavating an
               ancient Roman amphitheater close to Caesarea by the Sea (Maritima)
               and unearthed a limestone block.  On the face is a tombstone
               inscription, a fraction of a bigger devotion to Tiberius Caesar, which
               evidently tells that it was from “Pontius Pilate, Prefect of Judea.”  This
               discovery validated the fact that Pontius Pilate really did exist and that
               what was disclosed about him in God’s Word is true.

               Isn’t it comforting to know that the evidence supports God’s Word on which we have based our faith?
