Functions and Responsibilities
o Control research fund and programming of expenditure based on the annual
GAA provision for research and extension services of the University;
o Carry out a relevant and continuous human resource and infrastructure
development program to upgrade research and extension capabilities
o Establish more R&D and Extension linkages with local and foreign research
agencies and with government and private organizations; and
o Supervise all special projects/linkages of the University.
o Provide leadership in the development of well-organized university-wide
planning R&D agenda and programs;
o Introduce innovative approaches to improve governance thereby increasing
overall efficiency of the university R&D system;
o Ensure publication, dissemination and utilization of research outputs;
o Oversee the establishment of long-term mutually enriching research and
development linkages/relationships between the university, other
academic/research institutions, departments, schools;
o Source out funds for human resource development and acquisition of
scientific and information technology facilities;
o Introduce innovative approaches to facilitate access, among stakeholders,
planners, and other clientele, to R&D information and knowledge outputs;
o Coordinate with other university programs and/or related agencies for inter-
program/agency complementation efficient maximization of resources; and
o Ensure proper protection and management of research outputs;
o Perform other related tasks as directed.
