Mr. Wong Fook Wing, aged 46, had been an active participant in voluntary work in
China since 2002. He sacrificed his life while rescuing children from an orphanage
that collapsed following the 7.1-magnitude Qinghai earthquake in 2010. He left his
wife and children behind. Although he lost his life, he opened up the eyes of many
people with his positive attitude. He believed that he could live meaningfully by doing

He was a truck driver, but in 2002, he quitted his job and became a full-time volunteer.
He set up an orphanage and took care of children who lost their parents. In 2009, he
took part in the rescue work after the Sichuan earthquake. Over the years, he had
helped many poor people in China. He had even saved some of their lives.

Mr. Wong is the glory of Hong Kong. All Hong Kong people are touched beyond words.
He certainly deserves our greatest respect and appreciation. His great works remind us
of the idiom, 'Actions speak louder than words'. He is our role model. We should learn
from him.
