“It was so hard to see your co-workers sick
and wonder if they were going to be ok.” she added. Since many were out sick, employees on the Special Care floor have encouraging words displayed on their unit such as “Keep the faith, you got this!” and “We are in this together!”
“If I had to describe the COVID-19 pandemic, I would describe it as a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get. We felt a rollercoaster of emotions. Happy one day,
sad the next,” said SCU nurse Molly Hurst, RN, BSN. “Our supervisor, Treena Turner, as well as administration, made sure we were fully stocked with PPE and taken care of,” Hurst added.
“We always started each shift praying,” said Debbie Alverson, RN, BSN, an ICU nurse. “We really came together as a family,” she added.
The nurses, techs, and therapists also appreciated the love and support from the community. “They brought us food, and even came to the parking lot to pray over us,” said Faye Smoot. “The support brought tears to our eyes,” added Rachel Clay.
